Announcements

Ellis Island Simulation

We are excited to share that, through our History classes and in partnership with our librarians, our 7th grade students will all travel through an Ellis Island Simulation on Monday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 20. This will  allow every Kilmer 7th grader to learn firsthand about the immigration process in the early 1900s. We need your help to pull off this informative (and fun) learning opportunity!

If you are available, please use the link to sign up for a time slot to  help us at our immigration stations. We will provide you with step-by-step directions when you come in to volunteer!

Schoolwide Fundraiser Cookie Dough Pick-up

The cookie dough pick-up will be Wednesday 11/14 from 2:30- 6:00 PM in the chorus room.  Students may not bring the cookie dough home on the bus, it must be picked up after school as it must remain frozen.  You may enter though door 16 to pick up the orders once dismissal is over.  Door 16 is located on the right hand side of the building.  In an effort to reduce an impact on dismissal we will not hand out cookie dough prior to 2:30 or allow entry to the building until all students have exited.  Please make every effort to pick up the cookie dough Wednesday as we can not ensure the cookie dough can be stored in a freezer.

If you have any questions contact Chris Musgnug at ccmusgnug@fcps.edu

2nd Quarter Enrichment Activities begin Monday, November 12th!

Beginning second quarter, students will participate in one enrichment activity of their choice on Mondays and Tuesdays. PAWS, a time for students to read, make-up assignments, receive additional support from teachers, work on group projects, study, and visit the library, will continue on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Earlier in October, students selected their top 5 enrichment activities. Students are not guaranteed their top choice, but we will guarantee one of their top 5! If students do not get their first choice, they will have an opportunity to select another activity for third quarter.

In SIS ParentVue and SIS StudentVue, a 10th period has been added to each students’ schedule. This 10th period class is the enrichment activity that students will attend on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning this Monday, November 13th. Below is the weekly schedule for Enrichment and PAWS. 10th period and 5th period take place at the same time during the school day.

Kilmer Medical Center

The PE department is looking for Volunteers to be patients for our annual Kilmer Medical Center on November 12th, 13th, and 15th.  The PE department has developed a program in the health unit to help students understand symptoms and diagnoses of illnesses. Volunteers will assume the role of a patient, and will be given a card with their symptoms.  The students will then act as residents and will try and diagnose what the patient has.  You are more than welcome to sign up for more for multiple periods, or days.  The Kilmer Medical Center relies on the help of our volunteers in order to be successful.  Here is a quick link if you are curious to see what it’s all about and how it benefits our students.
