Veterans Day Celebration
Cameron Elementary School will be celebrating all Veterans! Please join us Monday, November 12th from 8:50 am until 10:30 am. Please come in your uniform if you would like, or casual attire would be appropriate also. We would like as many Veterans as possible to greet our students as they come to school in the morning. We will also highlight each of you on our Cameron Morning News! A light breakfast will be served.

Family Life Education Materials Preview Night
Fourth, fifth and sixth grade parents are invited to attend a material preview night at Bush Hill Elementary School to learn about the Human Growth and Development curriculum. The meeting takes place on November 14 starting at 6:30 p.m. We will be teaching Human Growth and Development Lessons at Cameron Elementary in 4th, 5th and 6th grade classrooms during the month of December. This meeting is an opportunity to preview the materials we will be using.

 Thanksgiving Luncheon at Cameron
Come and join your student(s) for Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, November 15 during their scheduled time. The menu includes turkey slices with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce and a frozen fruit juice cup. Prices are $4.50 for adults and family members, and $3.25 for Cameron students.
We are also seeking volunteers for the event. If you are available, please contact our Parent Liaisons, Ms. Rodriguez or Ms. McNealy.
A flyer with these details will be sent home with students during the first week of November.

John Marshall Library Re-Opened

PTA Movie Night
Join us on Friday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m. for PTA Movie Night. We will be watching the movie Incredibles II in the POD. Spanish subtitles will be displayed. One lucky raffle winner will go home with the DVD!

Cooler Weather
With the changing of seasons, we often have weather that is unpredictable. Please make sure your children come to school dressed to be comfortable in the building as well as on the playground. Students will still have outdoor recess during the fall and winter unless it is raining or there is a weather advisory. If your family needs assistance with warm weather clothing, please speak with one of our parent liaisons, Ms. McNealy or Ms. Rodriguez.

New this year, students and teachers will have 3 days off for Thanksgiving. Please mark your calendar that there will be no school on Wednesday November 21, Thursday November 22 or Friday November 23.

Outstanding Employee Awards
Fairfax County Public Schools wants your help to recognize employees who have done an outstanding job. As part of this process, students, parents and teachers can nominate any Cameron employee for an Outstanding Employee Award! When you nominate an employee you will be required to write about the candidate and later, if selected, complete a packet.
You can submit a nomination for a Cameron Outstanding Employee in one of the below categories:

Outstanding Teacher – a teacher or librarian with 3 or more years of experience

Outstanding New Teacher – a teacher or librarian with less than 3 years of experience

Outstanding Principal – a building principal with 3 or more years of experience

Outstanding New Principal – a building principal with less than 3 years of experience

Outstanding Leader – a US-20 or above school-based employee with at least one year of experience in the position – these positions could include School-Based Technology Specialists, Technology Support Specialist , Assistant Principal, Director of Student Activities, Director of Student Services, Assessment Coach, Career Center Specialist, Instructional Coach, Psychologist, Social Worker, School Counselor

 Staff Spotlight: Pat Charlton
Ms. Charlton an ESOL teacher at Cameron who loves do spend her free time reading. She also enjoys spending time outside in her garden.
She and her husband have one daughter, three sons, and two granddaughters. Her youngest child will graduate from high school this year. The highlight of Ms. Carlton's summer was getting to spend extra special time with her grandchildren and time with her parents in Florida.
