The Fun Fair Planning Kickoff Meeting is Friday November 30th!

Please join us to kickoff the planning for this year's SHES Fun Fair on Friday, November 30th, at

8:45am in the cafeteria!

All are welcome to hear what we have in store for this year's big carnival to raise money for our school! We're going to start helping roll and package tickets at the meeting, so the more helping hands, the better.

And please mark your calendar for Fun Fair -- coming up on Saturday, March 23rd!

Appropriations Committee Update

When the PTO’s income exceeds its expenses, the excess is used to purchase items that are not covered by FCPS but enhance children’s learning and the overall Spring Hill environment.  Three times a year the PTO Appropriations Committee comprised of PTO Executive Board members and three at-large PTO members recommend requests submitted by administrators, teachers, and parents for approval by the general PTO membership.  A list of items appropriated during the past three school years can be found at

https://springhillpto.files.wordpress.com/2018/10/pto-appropriations-2015-2018.pdf

If you are interested in being on the Appropriations Committee, please contact Julie DeLong at springhillptotreasurer@gmail.com no later than Sunday, November 11.

Staff Lounge K-cup Donation

There is a Keurig coffee/tea maker in the Staff Lounge and it’s a nice treat for the teachers and staff to have K-cups available for a quick cup! If you would like to donate a box of coffee or tea anytime throughout the year, please drop it off in the office. Thank you!

Have you donated to the Panther Fund! DON’T WAIT!

Where FCPS ends, Spring Hill Elementary families leap in!

The needs and population of our school are growing. Unfortunately, FCPS doesn’t have the funds to keep up with all the needs of our students so we need YOUR help! Did you know that in the last few years the Spring Hill PTO has purchased:

$32,000 in computers to replace old ones

$25,000 in new math workbooks the county could not provide

$10,500 on water fountain replacements with water bottle fillers

$10,000 on hand air dryers to promote a greener school

$7,000 on teacher starter funds

$6,100 on Math Manipulatives

*These amounts DO NOT include the funds the PTO pays to subsidize field trips, educational supplies, and school beautification projects.

How can you help?

Donate to the Panther Fund/Fall Fundraiser – Suggested amount is $100 per child

Join the PTO – $10 per family

With over 1,000 children at Spring Hill Elementary, if each family donated $100 per child we would have over $100,000!

Only a quarter of our families have donated to help our school so far this year…

Please join the fight to keep Spring Hill Elementary one of the top schools in Virginia. Imagine what we can accomplish with your help!

Call for Foreign Language Books Donation!

Our SHES Parent Ambassadors are working in coordination with Lindsey DeVylder, SHES Librarian, to collect donated foreign language books for our library. Our goal is to help enrich our library and expand its foreign language section. Imagine how wonderful it would be for multilingual kids to be able to pick a book in their native language(s) and for those kids who learn foreign language(s) to be able to read their favorite books in that language!

We are currently looking for books that are appropriate for ages five (5) and up in Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, French, Hindi, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian.

If you have a book written in or translated into one of these languages, which you are willing to donate, please contact Maryna Koberidze at migforever@gmail.com, Deena Parla at deenaparla@gmail.com, or Natalia Shestyuk natalia.shestyuk@gmail.com.

Your kind donations will make a long-lasting, positive impact for our vibrant, diverse, and multicultural community! Thanks in advance for your contribution to this important SHES initiative!

Library Volunteers Needed!

With the children in school and visiting the library regularly, that means hundreds of books in an out of the library each week! We are looking for some additional library volunteers to help with reshelving books, assisting students that come into the library, and completing other projects as they arise. Timing can be flexible to suit you: usually 1-2 hours at a time – weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly are all possible. Training will be provided. To volunteer or ask questions please contact Maryam Malik at maryammalik713@gmail.com.

What do you think about 16 FREE pizzas for $10?

The Spring Hill PTO is partnering with Domino’s Pizza and selling $10 Delivering the Dough cards.  This is a special card that gives you FREE pizzas with your purchases.

How does it work?

Each $10 Delivering the Dough card has 16 stickers.  When you purchase one pizza at menu price, each sticker gets you one FREE pizza of equal or lesser value. That’s a total of 16 FREE pizzas!

The best part is the Spring Hill PTO receives $9 as a donation to the school for every $10 Delivering the Dough card that is purchased.

$10 Delivering the Dough card is redeemable at participating Domino’s nationwide. Card valid for 1 year.

How do I get a card?

Domino’s $10 Delivering the Dough cards are available for sale online by the PTO.
