Positivity Project :

This week, we are continuing to focus on bravery, as it is a short week. If you are brave, you act with mental, moral, or physical strength even when you know things are difficult or scary.

“Take chances. Make mistakes. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.” – Mary Tyler Moore

Questions you might enjoy talking about.

  • Why is this character strength important?
  • How do I use this strength?
  • How do other people use this strength?

Veteran's Day

Show your spirit by wearing Red, White and Blue on Monday.

We are looking forward to holding our Veteran’s Day Assembly on Monday, November 12th.  Since part of our celebration includes music, we love to highlight members of our OHES community who are musicians in the military bands. If you are a member of a military band and would like to participate in our assemblies the morning of November 12th, please contact our band director, Eileen Fraedrich (ewfraedrich@fcps.edu). Band and choir students should be in concert dress. (White tops and Black bottoms)

During the assembly, we also involve the students who have a parent who is currently deployed. Prior to the assembly, please make sure to reach out to Suzanne Sousa (sbsousa@fcps.edu) with the name of the parent who is deployed, along with a photo, so that the parent and child can be included in the celebration. We cannot thank you enough for your support or service!

Due to the fact that we have so many participants, we have planned for three separate assemblies on the morning of Monday, November 12th.  All three assemblies are exactly the same, so come to any of them.

9:00-9:30       Grades 2 and 5 in the gym

9:45-10:15     Grades K, 3, and 6 in the gym

10:30-11:00   Grades 1 and 4 in the gym

laternenfest

Laternenfest - Friday, November 9

All OHES families are invited to join us for Laternenfest on November 9th.

The German tradition of Laternenfest honors the soldier, Martin, who is remembered for his good deeds and compassion towards others.

We will make lanterns, hear the story of Martin, sing traditional songs and walk with our lanterns through the neighborhood.

We will reassemble back at OHES for warm Kinderpunsch and donated treats!

This is a free event, but please RSVP here by Nov 7th to ensure lantern supplies and refreshments are available for all. See flyer for details.
