HES Food and Fitness Day was a success!!!
Thank you to AP Ms. Drake, our PE teachers, Ms. Pualoa & Mr. Johnson, our garden ladies, Ms. Geary & Ms. Olinger, and all of the staff and volunteers who designed and implemented our first HES Food & Fitness Day on Tuesday, October 30th! The day was comprised of activities to help students understand the importance of living a healthy, balanced life. Everyone had the best time!
November 5th and 6th are Student Holidays: NO SCHOOL
As a reminder, schools will be closed for students on Monday, November 5, for a school planning day and Tuesday, November 6, for a teacher work day. Classes will resume on Wednesday, November 7. See the complete 2018-19 school year calendar.

Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 4, at 2 a.m., for the end of Daylight Saving Time.
HES Literacy Night
All students and families are invited to attend our HES Literacy Night on Thursday, November 8th at 5:45-7:15 pm in the cafeteria. The literacy team has a wonderful evening planned to learn about literacy and how to support your student at home. PIZZA will be served at 5:45 pm in the cafeteria!
Family Life Education Parent Preview Night
Dear Parents and Guardians,
You are invited to attend our annual Family Life Education media and lessons preview night. All the program materials and media will be made accessible for you to view on November 8, 2018 at 5:00 pm in room K9. Staff will be available to answer any questions you might have.

Fall Book Fair: Volunteers Needed (Nov 9-16)
Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings kids the books they want to read. We’ll receive a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level, and all purchases benefit our school!

PTA Meeting & Book Fair Family Night: Tuesday, Nov 13
Join us for all kinds of fun on Tuesday, Nov 13.
The next general PTA Meeting will start at 6:30pm. It will include a presentation by and discussion with our school counselors, Ms. Bryant and Mr. Falkey. The Book Fair will be open for shopping until 8pm. Pizza will be available for purchase, with profits benefitting the 6th Grade Celebration.
Thanksgiving Lunch: Thursday, Nov 15
Please join us for our annual Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, Nov 15. The children and their families will celebrate together in the cafeteria or the gym while enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving meal. We need your help to serve the families the meal and to support our school staff to maintain a fun, holiday environment!
