School News

The Positivity Project (P2) character strength of the week for next week is BRAVERY.  Bravery is described by P2 as follows: You come up with new and original ways to think about and do things.  For more information, see the Bravery card, or any other character strength card at https://camelotes.fcps.edu/node/1945.

Thanksgiving Lunch. On Thursday, November 15, K-6 parents/guardians are invited to join students for lunch and to make a visit to the classroom. Please see the flier/lunch order form that went home today or the flier on our website for more details. Lunch times are: K: 10:55am, 1st: 11:45am, 2nd: 12:30pm, 3rd: 12:15pm, 4th: 12:45pm, 5th: 1:00pm, and 6th: 11:20am. Classroom visit times are: K: 10:25am, 1st: 11:15am, 2nd: 12:00pm, 3rd: 11:45am, 4th: 12:15pm, 5th: 1:30pm, and 6th: 10:50am.

FCPS Employee Awards. It is FCPS Employee Awards season! We invite the community to nominate Camelot teachers and staff members in a variety of categories. All you have to do is complete and submit a Google form for each staff member you wish to nominate: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1SB6RjalavpU-GTbKWRhLnxRrtQW857OH5FAtOgrpBSg/edit?usp=sharing. The nominations are due on November 15.

Lost and Found. Given the changes in weather, our Lost and Found is filling up. Our 6th grade service team periodically sorts the Lost and Found and will deliver items with student names back to the owners—so please label jackets, sweatshirts and other items that students remove during the school day.

Level IV AAP Referrals.  Save the date—On December 5, from 7-8pm, Karen Mitchell, our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher will host a session for parents on the topic of referring students for the highest level of Advanced Academic service. Level IV service is offered to students in grades 3-6. Parent Referrals for Level IV screening are due to Camelot no later than January 10, 2019.  


PTA News

Fun Run Pledge Donations Due November 30. Over 600 Camelot students ran superlaps last Friday and completed thousands of miles to help support their school. Now it's time to collect pledge money to make the Fun Run a success! Students can be entered to win prizes and the top class wins a party. A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the run successful and fun!  Please contact Molly Southworth with questions at molly.south24@gmail.com.

PTA Meeting; Save the date November 28. If you missed this week’s PTA meeting, you can review the October PTA Meeting Minutes.  Please save the date for Nov 28th for our next meeting. This meeting will include a presentation on testing at Camelot: What tests are given in FCPS and why, what the school does with the testing data, and more.

November 13th Chipotle Restaurant Night - Save the Date. Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Camelot Elementary PTA. Come in to the Chipotle at 8191 Strawberry Lane in Falls Church on Tuesday, November 13th between 5:00pm and 9:00pm. Bring in the flyer (will be sent home next week), show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to Camelot Elementary PTA.

Thanksgiving Luncheon: Volunteers Needed. This year’s Thanksgiving Luncheon will be on Thursday November 15. We will be serving about 1,000 lunches to students and their families and to make that happen we need more volunteers to serve. Please email Michele at mpecorichoe@gmail.com if you can volunteer before, during or after your student’s lunch! (Schedule has been sent home in Thursday folders.)
