Monday, November 12, 9 a.m. Longfellow Lecture Hall
What roles do the Director of Student Services, Psychologist, Social Worker, and School Counselors play in our children's lives at LMS? Hint: A really important one.
Join us on Monday, November 12th (Veteran's Day) at the next PTA meeting to learn about the support available at Longfellow as our children navigate middle school.
Has your child been feeling anxious or stressed? Are they lacking in organization? Friendships starting to change? Maybe they have been feeling lonely? These are all common issues for kids in middle school. There is a whole support team at LMS to guide our kids through issues big and small. Meet the team as they explain their roles and who to contact for different issues/questions that arise. They will also discuss the results from last year's youth survey administered to 8th graders so parents can have a better understanding of your teen and the trends that are happening at LMS, as well as the results of the ACT screening administered to current 7th grade students in early November.
Join us for the PTA meeting at 9:00 a.m., followed by Principal Kihm's school update at 9:20. The Director of Student Services, School Psychologist, Social Worker, and members of the school counseling staff will follow with their presentations and will be available to answer your questions.
Hope to see you there.
Warm Regards,
Jennifer Von Elm, PTA President

The PTA is in need of just a few more committee chair volunteers. Please consider volunteering your time for one of these open positions.
Bowling Night – February, Date TBD Organize an evening of fun with a local bowling alley.
Curriculum Night – February 7, 2019 (Snow Date, February 13, 2019) One co-chair needed to work with another parent that has chaired this event in the past. This is an evening for rising 7th Grade parents to learn about Longfellow Middle School courses.
General Volunteer Pool – Don't have time to commit to being a chair, but want to hear about volunteer opportunities with the PTA. Sign up here to be part of the general volunteer pool. It does not commit you to any event, but you will be contacted first as needs arise.
Please contact Mel Tillotson at vpprograms.ptalms@gmail.com if you are interested in one of the openings.

The verification process for this year’s Student Directory has begun. You should have received an email on Wednesday, October 17th, from Longfellow-PTA Directories to verify your family’s directory information. The verification email contains your user name, password, and instructions on how to access and verify your directory information, as well as access the AtoZ School Directory App. If you have not already done so, please follow the directions outlined in the email to confirm and update your family's information by October 30th. Verification should only take a couple of minutes and once you complete the verification process, you will have access to the directory app. A printed directory will be distributed in mid-November to students whose families joined the PTA. It’s not too late to join the PTA and receive a free directory - you can join here.
If you did not receive a verification email or have any other questions, please email the directory team at lms.ptadirectory@gmail.com.
