STUDENT-PARENT SURVEY FOR FEDERAL IMPACT AID

Beginning yesterday, FCPS began asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. For Fort Belvoir Primary School, these forms went home in yesterday's Thursday folders.

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County Public Schools and centers, as all of our schools proudly serve military-connected students.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 26. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

Learn more by watching this short video featuring Superintendent Scott Brabrand and the U.S. Army Garrison Commander COL Michael Greenberg from Fort Belvoir.

Thank you for returning these forms to school right away.  Our goal is a 100% return rate for our school.  We can do this, Dolphins!

Birthday Treats

While we recognize that every child’s birthday is special, we would like to encourage parents to send in non-food items for celebrating their child’s birthday at school. We have many students at school with a variety of food allergies. It is challenging for young students to clearly understand the severity of their allergies and refrain from eating any food that may have had an allergen as an ingredient within the food item or at the processing store.

For parents who choose to bring a store-made food item to school, we encourage you to bring the LoftHouse cookies or cupcakes that are sold at the Commissary and Wegmans as they are made in a peanut-free facility. Please be cautious when purchasing items from the Commissary bakery as they do not have an ingredient list on their items. If you decide to purchase a bakery item please request a copy of the ingredients to bring to school. Upon arrival at school, the front Office Staff will review the ingredient list of store-bought items as well as a class list to ensure that there are not any allergy considerations.

Thank you for supporting the safety of all of our Dolphin students.

veterans day

We are preparing for our annual Veterans' Day Celebration, which will take place on Monday, November 12, 2018Please save this date and be on the lookout for an invitation from your child’s teacher that outlines more information on how we will celebrate the gift of our school community by inviting our parents/guardians to participate in school activities with their child(ren). Military service members are encouraged to wear their uniforms to our event! If you plan to bring younger siblings to this event, please ensure they are secured in a stroller or infant carrier for safety reasons.

We would like to showcase our military families through photographs. If you would like to send in a photo that reflects any type of experience with the service member in your family, please email it to our web curator at crlazun@fcps.edu. The subject line of your email should read Veterans Day Photo. The submitted photo may include your family. The photo may also be from a deployment or any duty station. Please be sure the service member is in uniform so we can recognize our veterans! Due to the size of our school community, we ask that you limit your submission to one photograph. Submissions must be received by the close of business (4:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, November 6 to be included.

We look forward to you participating in this special annual event!
