As of the 2017-2018 school year, FCPS will pay the fees for the first six IB/AP exams taken for courses in which a student is enrolled for high school credit or auditing. Students choosing to take one or more AP/IB exams beyond the six FPCS-funded tests will be charged a fee of $93 per AP exam and $119 per IB exam. FCPS strongly encourages all students to take the tests for their advanced academic courses. However, due to the fees associated with tests taken beyond the six FCPS-funded tests, students now have the option of opting out of AP/IB tests. . If a student chooses to opt out of an exam, the tudent will still be required to do all course work, but simply will not sit for the exam associated with that course. Since for most students AP/IB courses are an opportunity to earn potential college credit, we hope that all students will choose to to take all exams associated with these courses.
Please review the information found at the following link: AP/IB Test Frequently Asked Questions Students who choose to opt out of an exam MUST see Mrs. McHugh, the IB Coordinator, to get their opt out form. The form must be signed by the parent/guardian and returned no later than Friday, November 2. Students who do not submit the opt-out form by the deadline and later do not sit for the test for which they were registered will be charged an additional fee of $15 per unused AP exam.
