Student-Parent Survey For Federal Impact Aid

Beginning on October 16th, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 26. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

Learn more by watching this short video featuring Superintendent Scott Brabrand and the U.S. Army Garrison Commander COL Michael Greenberg from Fort Belvoir.

Cub Run-a-Thon Update

Congratulations Cubbies! As of Tuesday October 16, we have raised over $38,000! Way to go! You have until October 19th to get those remaining donations in. Because of your hardwork, we are going to be able to move ahead with the outdoor classroom, get those much needed computers for 5th and 6th grade, and fund all the great PTA events during the year! Also, because we met our goal and exceeded what we raised last year, the whole school will get to enjoy:

  • Our teacher and principal pie face event! This event will be held in December, please stay tuned for the date/time. Remember, any student who met his/her goal will have a chance to pie face a teacher! Our top earning student from our lower and upper grades will get the chance to pie face Mrs. Coakley!
  • Dress up as your favorite book character on Halloween!
  • The chance to participate in our Night at the Cub Run Museum! Our drawing for the event will be held next week and if your child is selected you will be contacted next week. As a reminder, any student who raised $60 is eligible for the drawing and the event will be held in November (more information will be provided if your student wins the raffle).

Final squishies will be distributed next week and teachers will be contacted about pizza parties (for those classes raising over 100% of their goal). If your child is one of the top earning students, you will be contacted next week about selecting a grand prize! As a reminder, some of our awesome grand prizes include a Playstation or Xbox (student choice), a Chromebook, a Dulles Town Center Gift Card, a trip for 4 on the Boomerang Pirate Ship, a Rebounderz party, and a whole lot more!

Thanks again for all the amazing support you have provided to make the Cub Run-a-Thon a success!

Cub Run Elementary Honors Our Heroes!

On Monday, November 12th, Cub Run Elementary students and staff will be honoring our Veterans and active service members during our annual Veterans Day assembly!

Please help us celebrate by sending a digital photograph and/or copy of a photo (not to be returned) of a friend or family member who is a veteran/currently serving in one of the armed forces.

Please send photographs no later than Monday, November 5th, to your child’s music teacher, Mrs. Biggs at skbiggs@fcps.edu

Digital photos will be featured in a slide show during the assembly. Physical photos will hang on our “Wall of Heroes”.

Our students are very proud of their family and friends who have served our country! Please help us celebrate!
