FSES first graders are developing their writing skills. The students recently celebrated finishing their first unit in writing!
They worked very hard to publish personal narratives.

Mrs. Sundar has known that she
wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember, and she is beyond excited to
begin this journey at Franklin Sherman Elementary School! She grew up in
Fredericksburg, VA, and moved to Harrisonburg, VA, when she started college at
James Madison University. She recently moved to Alexandria, VA, and loves
everything about it except the traffic. Mrs. Sundar is currently working towards a
Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Sachin, and her dog, Sooch. She also
enjoys traveling, playing the piano and guitar, and spending time with friends
and family.
No power, no problem! A big thank you to our cafeteria staff: Arisera Hia, Ashley Hopper, and Wongduen Ung. They worked hard to make sure our students had both breakfast and lunch despite the lack of power in our building on Friday.
This week is Digital Citizenship Week. Please
visit the Digital Citizenship Week link on the FCPS Franklin Sherman
website to learn how you can work with your child to strengthen
his/her understanding of how to be safe online.

Beginning October 16, FCPS will be asking all families to
fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
Returning this form is important because information from this
survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S.
Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County
public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete,
sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2
of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section
3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 26. All
results are CONFIDENTIAL.
