Oak View Review

Team Challenge SUCCESS!

Oak View celebrated the first day of fall weather in grand style with a fantastic Team Challenge Day! Mr. Hutzel, Mr. Corey, teachers and volunteers made this spectacular day even better for all students. We practiced teamwork throughout every station. Students partnered through a labyrinth, hopped across stepping stones, carried armfuls of chickens and even formed a human foosball game! We loved it all and appreciated all the help from volunteers!

Teamwork Treat

Oak View was ecstatic to see the air display above fly over our second Team Challenge group on Friday afternoon. This bonus example of teamwork made the day even more memorable and set the tone for the rest of the afternoon.

Wednesday Walkers

Oak View welcomed walkers on Wednesday as many families joined our Walk to School Wednesday campaign. We had walking trains take off from a few locations and students made their way safely to school!

Wednesday BBQ

Oak View is excited for the return of FCPS Rotational BBQ. Mark your calendar for this Wednesday, October 17 and send your students with lunch money as traditional BBQ fare will be served including hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage links. We had a great time last year and look forward to a much cooler day this go around. As always, families are welcome to join their students for lunch! See you under the tents! More info here.

Digital Citizenship Week: Monday

October 15 -19 is Digital Citizenship Week in FCPS. Digital Citizenship for our students is a shared responsibility amongst students, school teachers and staff, and parents. Each of us plays a vital role in ensuring that students learn to use technology safely, responsibly, and ethically, and that they learn to develop healthy habits and self-monitoring skills around the use of technology. Digital Citizenship aligns nicely with many of the Positivity Project traits that our students learn about including kindness, bravery, self-control, social intelligence, and this week’s characteristic: integrity.

There are many resources available to parents to support you as you work to help your child navigate the digital world.  Each day this week, be on the lookout on Twitter (@OakViewFCPS) and The Oak View Connection for different, quality resources you may find of interest.
