Integrity is doing the right thing, even if nobody is
watching. Integrity includes being honest, authentic and having the
courage to follow your beliefs.

STUDENT-PARENT
SURVEY FOR FEDERAL IMPACT AID
Beginning
on October 16th, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent
Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
Returning
this form is important because information from this survey results in an
anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each year from the U.S.
Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County
public schools and centers.
For
each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and
return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do
not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be
signed, dated, and returned by October 26. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

STAFFING UPDATES
This year we have a new social worker, Lori Harkin Huse.
Mrs. Huse is expected to go out on maternity leave soon and Amy Young will be
filling in for Lori starting on October 22nd. Lori and Amy can
be reached at 703-802-5033 or through the main office at 703-802-5000. Please reach out if you’re looking for
resources to support your child and family.
Our new bi-lingual parent liaison is Diana Archila. She
can provide assistance to families in both English and Spanish. Diana is
at Deer Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 – 2 and can be reached through
the main office at 703-802-5000.
We also welcome Younghee Kim to our Preschool as an
instructional assistant and Kristi Finn, who is working in our preschool autism
classroom as an instructional assistant.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
BOOK FAIR - Come help encourage a love of reading and volunteer at the Deer
Park PTA fall book fair. We need people on the mornings of Nov 8th &
16th for set up and clean up. We also need help for Browse day (Nov 9), opening
night (Nov 9) or our Tuesday late night (Nov 13) . The BIGGEST need for
volunteers is Thanksgiving luncheon!!!! (Nov 15th) Please e-mail Stephanie
Adams at dsadams@prodigy.net if you can help.
ART SMOCKS – The art classroom is
in need of clean, gently used men’s button down shirts. We use these for art smocks for the
children. As you are cleaning out your
closets, please keep us in mind! Please
feel free to drop off in the main office or send in with your student.
