Frost Spirit Wear Sale!!  Next Spirit Wear clothing sale is Friday, October 26 in the Frost cafeteria during lunch.   If your student is interested if Frost bling, have them bring some cash to lunch on 26 Oct.  We are selling in-stock merchandise only.

 

Next PTA Meeting:  The next PTA meeting of the school year is on Wednesday 10 October, 9:00am.  We will be reviewing the Grant Program, discussing painting the bathroom stalls with inspirational quotes, Odyssey of the Mind, Spelling Bee, and other topics.   The meeting will feature Kim Perks from “Moms Demand Action”.  The Be SMART program was created as a response to helplessness that accompanies the rising gun violence. This expressly non-political presentation starts a conversation about this public health crisis and safe gun storage as something we can all do to keep our children, families, and communities safe.   www.BeSmartforkids.org. 

 

First Frost Dinner Fundraiser!!  Hungry?   How about dinner at Tropical Smoothie Cafe on Wednesday, October 17?   Please join your Frost community for a fundraising dinner at Tropical Smoothie Café at 3991 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22031 in the Turnpike Shopping Center.  20% of revenue generated goes to Frost Middle School!

 

Impact Aid (Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid):  Forms will be sent home with students on October 16.  Please fill in the appropriate information and return the form with your student on October 17.  All students are required to turn in a completed form and all forms must be returned by October 26.  FCPS could possibly receive as much as $3,000,000 in unrestricted funds from this grant, which will become part of the school system’s general operating budget, which help maintain the high standards for educational excellence. Falcons on the Run 5k & Fun Run

Inspirational Quotes Coming to Frost!  Principal Harris gave approval for the PTA to organize the painting of inspiration quotes and art on the bathroom stall doors.  To see what this looks like visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FrostMSPTA// I am looking for parent volunteers to help organize the students and parents to make this a reality. COMING SOON!  Frost Fall Book Fair!  From November 7-12, the Frost Library will be open during the school day from 7:15am-2:30pm for the Book Fair. Book Fair proceeds go directly to support Frost’s library. It’s a great time to support the library and check out the middle school scene at the same time!  There will also be a set up day on Friday, Nov 2.  The library will need help cashiering during the fair.  2018 Credit Exam for World Languages: This test will be administered November 6th -  8th. Twenty-nine languages will be included (please use the below link for languages!).  Registration opens Monday, September 10, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. and closes on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.  Late registrations will not be accepted. Students who are interested in taking the assessment should see their school counselor in student services during this window.  Credit exam information (locations, requirements, proficiency level) can be accessed at https://www.fcps.edu/academics/high-school-academics-9-12/world-languages/credit-exam-world-languages.

 

AMC Math 8 Competition:  The AMC Math 8 competition will be held in school during 3rd and 4th period on Tuesday, November 13th.  Students must be in grade 8 or under and less than 14 ½ years old.  Forms will be available from students’ math teachers in October and must be turned in by Friday, Nov. 2nd.  For more information on the AMC 8 math competition, go to https://www.maa.org/math-competitions/amc-8 and select AMC Resources. Woodson Dace Camp:  Come dance your hearts out with the award-winning W. T. Woodson Precisionettes! Have fun doing crafts, playing games, learning dances and dance technique. **Middle Schoolers** Come learn what it takes to be on a high school dance team! Dance Team Prep will give you a taste for the skills needed to make one of our teams; 12+ will receive a skills assessment and suggestions for strengthening individual technique.
