WAKEFIELD FOREST ES, Weekly Message

Grossmanstore
Fourth grade students experience economics in action during the first class store of the school year.

This week’s Positivity Project Strength: Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others
Identifying and appreciating the good in other people helps you see the world through a more positive lens. If you see the good in another, they’re likely to see the good in you. That’s a great foundation to start an interpersonal relationship – and a group culture.

Electronic Devices Policy at Wakefield Forest
We would like to remind you that students may have cell phones at school, but they must be turned off and in their backpacks. Students wearing internet connected watches should not be using these to take photos or send messages during the school day. Electronic devices from home, such as eReaders and personal laptops, that students want to use during the school day, must go through an FCPS Approval Process. Students should bring these devices to Mr. Carr, the School Based Technology Specialist (SBTS) for approval.

Tomorrow is Walk/Bike to School Day
Wakefield Forest is participating in the national Walk/Bike to School Day tomorrow, October 10.  Started in 1997, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – every October. When walking or biking, parents and children get to appreciate things they don’t notice while driving—listening to the sounds of the neighborhood, seeing friends and neighbors and feeling connected with their community. Parents, children and friends can enjoy one another’s company without the usual distractions. Enjoy!

Little Heroes Breakfast
School counselors Ms. Garcia-Henderson and Ms. Boateng will be hosting a bring-your-own-breakfast for children of WFES military families on Monday, October 15, from 8:00 to 8:30 am in the library.  Water and juice will be provided.  If there are food allergy considerations, please include those in your RSVP.  Please RSVP by Friday, October 12 to Ms. Garcia-Henderson at nagarciahend@fcps.edu or Ms. Boateng at cmboateng@fcps.edu.

Federal Impact Aid Forms

The Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid forms will be mailed on October 15.  Fairfax County receives funds based on the information collected on the forms, so all families are required to complete, sign and return the forms to school, one for each student.  Please return the forms by October 26.  Feel free to contact the office with any questions.

Field Day is Monday, October 22!
Our annual Field Day is coming up on Monday, October 22 (rain date October 25), and we need many volunteers!

Kindergarten through 3rd Grade volunteers will be needed from 8:45 until 11:15 am.

4th through 6th Grade volunteers will be needed from 12:30 until 2:45 pm.

All volunteers are invited to stay for a pizza lunch from 11:30 am-12:30 pm in appreciation of their time and help.

We do ask that if you are able to volunteer, please arrange alternative care for younger siblings. Our athletes will need your full attention out on the field!

We are hoping to get as many volunteers as possible as this is a huge event for our school, so please consider joining us by following the link below to sign up.

We look forward to seeing you for a day full of fun!
