Dear Family and Friends of Team Fairfax,

HAPPY HOMECOMING FRIDAY!

I must first start with an apology for the misprint of our awesome golf team last week!  We have corrected it, so please join us in celebrating the entire golf team, and in particular these young athletes on defending their district title with an impressive team victory: Seth Brownridge, Taylor Park, Christina Cupelli, RJ Cupelli, Dro Khachatourian, and James Thomas.

Parades, dunk tanks, and tailgates, OH MY!  Top it off with a Saturday night dance, and I would say it has been a pretty fun-filled, community-centered week.  What has truly been awesome is that for the first time in years (or at least that is what I am told), we had volleyball, field hockey, and football home games during Homecoming week.  Add in our cheer and golf competitions, and this was the week for our Rebel Pride to brightly shine.

Last night, we celebrated our senior field hockey team and managers, tearfully and proudly saluting their hard work and spirit in competition and fellowship, on and off the field.  I was so proud to celebrate my first senior night with these dynamic and talented young ladies and their families, and we are all looking forward to celebrating a strong senior season alongside them.

Please don’t forget that Monday is Columbus Day, a holiday for our students, and Wednesday is our early release for PSAT testing—and old man weather looks like it may be good to us this weekend and early next week!  Am I the only person wishing that time would just slow down a little?

GO FAIRFAX BEAT WEST SPRINGFIELD!

As always, wishing you a restful, relaxing, and rejuvenating weekend with your family and friends,

  •  Seniors do not have classes on October 10, 2018. All 9th and 10th graders receive a free score report provided by FCPS.
  • All 11th graders who do not have Free & Reduced Lunch status must submit payment of $20 through MySchoolBucks.com or a check for $20 payable to Fairfax HS to their Lion Time teacher if they wish to have their test scored.
  • If your 11th grade student does not have a Lion Time teacher at FHS, please submit payment via MySchoolBucks or to Kathy Kraus-Zadrozny, Assessment Coach in room L127.
  • The deadline to submit payment for a score report is close of business on October 10th (testing day).

On Friday, September 21, 2018, Lion Time teachers distributed a letter to all students outlining information for testing day.

  • Seniors only received a letter explaining what they should do with their day.
  • Sophomores and Juniors received a letter and the PSAT Student Guide.  This booklet contains important information about the test and should be reviewed prior to test day.
  • Freshmen only received a letter. The PSAT 8/9 does not have a paper Student Guide but does have important information and practice tests located at the following link:  https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-8-9/inside-the-test.

If you have any questions please contact Kathy Kraus-Zadrozny, Assessment Coach at kjkrauszadro@fcps.edu or 703-219-2216.
