Dear Gunston Family,
We have had a fantastic first month
of school and are looking forward to a great October! While the time has
flown by, we’ve been so impressed with the progress the students have made in
just a few weeks. By now, everyone is settling in to their classrooms,
making connections with new and former friends, and learning about their new
curriculum. We’ve heard many positive comments from parents about the smooth
start and thank you for the compliments and the children you send us!
We hope each of you received your
child’s interim report that noted current strengths and any areas where they
may need additional support. It is important to us to develop and
maintain a strong partnership with you and keep the lines of communication
open. We encourage you to offer any suggestions that will help us to
ensure your child has a successful experience at Gunston. We’re
always here to help.

D.O.G.S. event, Restaurant Night at Chili's, or the Fall Carnival!

Fall Picture Day

Vision and Hearing Screening will be held on October 11th for all third graders and students new to Fairfax County. If your child wears glasses, please be sure he/she has them at school on screening day. The purpose of the screening is to identify students who need further evaluation. |

PTA News & Announcements |
- Thank you for all of
the support with the Glory Days fundraiser and Box Tops submissions. We had great
participation!
- Spirit Wear is in and
will come home soon with your Eagle this week. If you ordered spirit wear and do
not receive it by Friday, please email ptagunston@gmail.com
- Our
annual PTA membership drive continues. Thanks to all of you who have already
joined the PTA. Your membership has been counted in the class numbers for the

- Dad’s and Kid’s Pizza
Night on 10/11 @ 6pm. Come out and learn about our Watch D.O.G.S. Program and
spend an amazing evening with your great student. All dads and kids are welcome.
Pizza is provided free of charge. We hope to see you there!
- The PTA is partnering with Chili’s in
Springfield on Tuesday, October 16th to raise funds that support our Eagles.
