Dear Panther Families,
Another wonderful week at Poplar Tree. Field Day was amazing and so much fun for all. Fall weather cooperated with us and it wasn't too hot for students. A huge thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to help make the day a success.
Each year, we create a School Improvement and Innovation Plan to focus on continuous growth. This year we are focused on math instruction and the Portrait of a Graduate skill of Ethical and Global Citizenship. Our 2018-2019 School Improvement and Innovation Plan is now on our website. Please take a moment to view our plan on our website.
Have an awesome weekend,
Ms. Andujar and Ms. Walker

Positivity Project
This week our focus has been on the character strength of integrity.
Individuals
with the character strength of integrity
are those who do the right thing when no one is looking and is vital to
individual growth. They might be described as: honest, genuine, authentic,
trustworthy, sincere and real.
To
quote Mahatma Gandhi, “To believe in something and not live it, is dishonest.”
If you are interested in learning more about the Positivity Project, please visit their website or the Poplar Tree website Positivity Project.
Calling all Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel!

Please RSVP by emailing Holly Walker, assistant principal, at hjwalker@fcps.edu or calling her at 703-633-7400, by November 1, 2018. Please share your name, military branch, military rank, child's name, a phone number and email.

Each year, FCPS is eligible to apply for federal Impact Aid grant funds and anticipates receiving about $3,000,000 annually in funds. FCPS uses the Student-Parent Survey to identify federally connected students and to support our request for Impact Aid resources. The pre-filled Student-Parent Survey came home on Tuesday, October 16.
Please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, October 26.
If sections 2 through 4 of the survey do not apply to you, just sign, date, and return the form by the due date.

Bus Delay Notification
The FCPS transportation department
and drivers do a fantastic job of getting thousands of students to their
schools safely and timely each day. There are however occasions where a bus may
run late due to unforeseen circumstances. Did you know that you can go to
the fcps.edu website
(home page) and check on bus delays? Should a bus be delayed by more
than 15 minutes, the transportation department will post the information
