It's always great to see inspirational works of art in our schools. The one above graces a wall at Oak Hill ES. The school's second grade team is gracing the wall, too (momentarily). (Photo: Kathryn Wright, Oak Hill ES)
Fairfax
County Youth Survey 2017-18 Results
The
Fairfax
County Youth Survey is a comprehensive, anonymous, and voluntary survey
given each year to students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12. It examines behaviors,
experiences, and other factors that influence the health and well-being of
Fairfax County's youth. The results provide a snapshot of the county's youth
and serve as a barometer of the community's effectiveness in fostering healthy
choices in young people. The Youth Survey is a collaboration of Fairfax County
Government and Fairfax County Public Schools. Get more information.
#OurFCPS Faces: Kelli Lundregan
Kelli Lundregan is one of two FCPS teachers (out of 76 teachers from across the country) who has been offered a Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms grant. Grant recipients “address critical global challenges, from sustainable energy and climate change to public health and food security, while building relationships, knowledge, and leadership in support of the long-term interests of the U.S. and the world.”
Kelli has been at FCPS for eight years, all of them at Forest Edge. As a math coach, she facilitates weekly team meetings; collaborates with grade level teachers to implement professional development; supports teachers and students through modeling or co-teaching lessons; and participates in general school-wide improvement as a member of the leadership team. Kelli says, “My favorite part of the job is getting to build relationships with all the students and teachers in the building, and to support them with meaningful tasks and learning opportunities for their classrooms.”
Principal Leona Smith-Vance adds, “Kelli is an integral part of the Forest Edge community. [...] She has moved from 6th grade teacher to math coach and is having a major impact on instruction and on team collaboration. She also has worked tirelessly with our community engagement committee and leads our parent advisory group. Kelli builds long lasting relationships with entire families, and almost weekly, a middle or high school student stops by to say “hello” and to volunteer to help her. [...] We are so grateful to have her leading and working in our school.” In Kelli's free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and going to the beach, playing and watching sports (go Redskins!), traveling, and volunteering with animal rescue organizations. Keep up the outstanding work, Kelli!
