Wednesday, October 3 - Picture Day
Friday, October 5 - Centreville HS Homecoming Parade
Monday, October 8 - No School For Students
Tuesday, October 9 - PTA Meeting 7:00 PM
Wednesday, October 24 - PTA Chick-Fil-A fundraiser
This week our students focused on the trait of TEAMWORK/CITIZENSHIP.
Individuals with a character strength of TEAMWORK/CITIZENSHIP work well within a group or team. You are loyal and sacrifice your individual desires for the greater good.
Mrs. Bunch's 6th grade class (pictured below) truly used TEAMWORK this past week. In randomly assigned groups, the students worked together to make "CRUT" with an odd assortment of materials. The students eagerly collaborated to make their creation. Afterward, the class brainstormed to define CRUT and reflected upon how the group members worked together
as teams.
The students were excited to learn CRUT is an acronym for the components of an effective team: Cooperation, Respect, Understanding, Together!
The character strength for next week is OPEN-MINDEDNESS . To learn more about it check out the character card linked on our school website. You can find that HERE.

Supports…
The team is here to support students and their
families in the school environment. All
children experience problems at one time or another. In fact, it is through these problems that
children gain insights and skills to deal with future problems that will
occur. Support services are a preventative
tool to help kids develop and achieve academically as well as socially and
emotionally. If students are in need of
additional supports, the team is happy to provide information on community
resources.

Emily Richwine, Instructional Coach
I am thrilled to be rejoining
the Powell family as an Instructional Coach! Previously, I taught 4th
grade, 2nd grade, and was a Math Resource Teacher here at Powell and
have already seen several younger siblings of students I taught! I am returning
in a new role that supports teachers with planning and instruction. I look
forward to working alongside teachers by modeling lessons, coteaching, and
providing job embedded professional development. When not at Powell I enjoy
traveling, volunteering, and spending time outdoors playing tennis, golf, or
hiking.

received a bachelor’s degree at George Mason University, and my master’s at
George Washington University in elementary education. My mission as a
teacher is to help children discover the joy of learning. Outside of work,
I enjoy reading, cooking, eating, walking and photography. I love eating
food from different countries. I believe that I can explore many exciting
cultures around the world by experimenting with different ethnic foods. I
