Parent Participation: Caring
Culture
Hello
Woodson Parents! Please come to a Parent Participation meeting on
Tuesday, October 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the library. This year we want to engage families to help
us foster a responsive, caring, and inclusive culture at Woodson where all feel
valued, supported, and hopeful. To get started, we invite parents
to an interactive meeting facilitated by our FCPS Educational Specialist on
Equity and Cultural Responsiveness at 6:00 p.m. in the Library on October 9th. We hope you will then stay for the PTSO meeting at 7:00 p.m. and see the
different ways to get involved in the culture of Woodson High School. Hope to
see you there!

PSAT Test Day
In Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and
across the United States, students in grades nine, ten, and eleven will take a
Preliminary SAT (PSAT) on October 10,
2018. Ninth grade students will take
the PSAT 8/9, which is specifically designed for eighth and ninth graders.
Tenth and eleventh grade students will take the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship
Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
There
will be a 2-hour early release on October 10, 2018.
High school academy courses will not be held on October 10th.
Students
with disabilities documented in a 504 plan or an Individualized Education
Program (IEP) must have accommodations for the PSAT/NMSQT approved by the
College Board. Students with an approved
accommodation for extended testing time must arrange for transportation home
from school since they will not finish testing before the buses depart.
Students may prepare for the PSAT by getting
a good night’s sleep prior to the test and eating breakfast the morning of the
test. Students should bring a calculator and two No. 2 pencils
to the test. It is also recommended that
students bring snacks and drinks,
which they may access during the two 5-minute breaks during the test. Electronic devices (cell phones, Fit Bits, etc.)
must be turned off and put away for the entire testing period.
