7th Grade MWEE (Meaningful Watershed Education Experience) Field Investigation Trip

Seventh grade students will be participating in a MWEE Field Investigation Trip on October 2, 3, 4, or 5 through their science classes.   Students will spend the day (rain or shine) at Burke Lake Park assessing the health of the local watershed.    Want to spend the day with us?  Chaperones are needed to make the field experience a success. No science experience is needed!  Chaperone time frame is approximately 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM.  If you are able to chaperone, please contact your student’s science teacher.

Anti-Bullying Lessons

7th and 8th grade Anti-bullying lessons are being presented through science classes beginning September 17 through October 15, 2018.  The presentations are focus on the appropriateness of Digital Citizenship with reminders of the “Do’s and Don’ts of what to do in situations of Bullying and Harassment.  We encourage you to discuss with your child what they learned during this lesson.

Volunteers Needed for Book Fair

We’re gathering volunteers to help out at our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair.  Please take a moment to view our sign-ups to see in what way you can help out.  You can sign up through Sign-Up Genius here, or you can email Tricia Lude at pklude@fcps.edu.  We really need the most help setting up on October 19th during the hours of 8 AM to 2 PM and during take down from noon to 2PM on Friday, the 26th.  Any amount of time you can help would be appreciated.

Career Day at Liberty

Family and Community Engagement  Conference

In a new effort to welcome and encourage all families throughout Fairfax County to become active participants in their school community. The Council PTA and Fairfax County Public Schools are hosting F.A.C.E.ing the Future Together Conference.  It will held on October 20, 2018 from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Thomas Jefferson for Science and Technology. World Languages Credit Exam

The 2018 Credit Exam for World Languages will be administered November 6th, 7th and 8th. Twenty-nine languages will be included:  American Sign Language, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali/Bangla, Chinese/Mandarin, Farsi/Persian, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit/Samskritam, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog/Pilipino, Tamil, Telugu, Tigrinia, Turkish, Twi, Urdu, and Vietnamese. Registration opens Monday, September 10, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. and closes on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.  Late registrations will not be accepted. Free and Reduced-Price Meal Regulations

Parents are required to complete a new application annually. Free and reduced price meal eligibility carry-over of the prior year extends through the 30th operating day of the new school year and provides eligible students meals based on the status of the previous June. This provides parents adequate time to reapply for continued free and reduced-price meal coverage.  Parents should be sure to have this year’s application submitted by October 1, 2018.  Click the following link for more information and to apply online.
