Our fifth and sixth grade students are excited that we have 1:1 laptops in their classrooms this year.
From the Principal's Desk:
Fall is in full swing and our students will be participating in some
wonderful opportunities through school and our PTA this month. Camp Highroad, Kennedy Center,
5K/Fun Run, and Jamestown are all special events that take place in
October. It is such a pleasure to see
our students (and parents) engaging in activities together outside the walls of
our classrooms. We look forward to more
exciting events in the coming months!
Salad Bar Starts Next Wednesday
We are excited to provide our students and staff with a healthier lunch! Beginning on Wednesday, September 26th,
we will be implementing the “Real Food for Kids” Salad Bar. Students will “practice” salad
bar etiquette and new procedures for the lunch line on Monday and Tuesday. Please refer to the new menus we sent home last week which includes our new salad bar options.
Advanced Academic Information Meeting – Thursday, September 27th
at 9:30AM in the Louise Archer Library
This session will provide further information on the continuum of
services offered by the Advanced Academic Program as well as the screening and
referral process. For more info, see the AAP Newsletter that was being sent
home in this week’s Tuesday folders or contact Tara Harvan, Advanced
Academic Resource Teacher, at TSHarvan@fcps.edu.
International
Walk to School Day October 10, 2018
International
Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than
40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as
a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for
year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking
participation!
Arrival
and Dismissal Reminders
Students
being dropped off for a before school activity should be dropped off at the
main entrance. No students may be dropped off before 9:00am unless they are arriving for a before school activity. Students arriving after 9:15am must
report to the main office. Students may not enter through the back door after
9:15am. In the afternoon, students may not return to their
classroom after the dismissal bell rings.
Items Forgotten at Home
If
you bring a forgotten item from home, please bring it before your child’s lunch
time. Teachers check their mailboxes at lunch. Items brought in
after lunch may not be picked until the next day. Forgotten
instruments and lunches have a specific location that students have been told
to check. Classes will not be interrupted for forgotten items.
