Positivity Project is Coming to Irving! (Updated)

We were so excited about the Positivity Project (P2), that we got a little ahead of ourselves - we apologize! We are still going to be kicking off our P2 lessons on September 24, however we will be delaying the student survey to October 1, to ensure we have permission for each child to take the survey. Today, your child will be bringing home a VIA Character Survey participation permission form. Please cut off the bottom of the permission slip, circle Yes or No and complete the information, then send it back to school with your child. The permission slip should be turned in to his/her 1st period teacher. We are very excited to start the Positivity Project and we want to make sure we start correctly!

The purpose of the Positivity Project is to, “...empower students to build positive relationships by equipping educators with the training, strategy, and resources to teach positive psychology’s 24 character strengths. Our work throughout the year will be to help students understand the importance of the Other People Matter Mindset and that we all have the 24 character strengths, some are just stronger than others. We will use lessons created by the Positivity Project to help students learn more about each of the 24 character strengths.

More information about the Positivity Project can be found here.

We look forward to also having a community Positivity Project kickoff as well this fall.

Driving to Irving Middle School

We are happy to see the Kiss and Ride area running better since the start of the school year. We still have a few things to work out, and with your help traffic should be flowing in no time. As always - we appreciate your patience in our parking lot.

Stay alert - we have many cars in our parking lot and staff are outside to help direct you. Please stay off your phones and be alert to the people and cars around you.

Please be patient and follow the Crossing Guard’s direction - she is the expert in keeping Old Keene Mill running.

Please stress to your child, for their safety, the importance of using the crosswalks and listening to the Crossing Guard.

Please drop-off and pick up your child ONLY at the bottom of the Kiss and Ride loop - students being dropped off or picked up must enter and exit the building from door 2. This is to help keep staff and students safe and helps maintain the flow of traffic.

Food Deliveries

Students may not have outside businesses, such as Uber eats and pizza restaurants, deliver food to the school.  The main reasons for this policy are student/staff safety and preventing disruption to the learning environment. Students are welcome to purchase lunch from the school cafeteria or bring their lunch from home. Remaining consistent with other schools and to maintain the safety of all of our staff and students, Irving staff will confiscate any food that has been delivered to the school.  All food that is confiscated may be picked up after school from the Main Office.

We appreciate your support in maintaining the safety of our students and staff.
