Dear Parents,
Mr. Credle and I attended the Fairfax County School Board Meeting
last week to accept the Virginia Index of Performance Award for advanced
learning and achievement. The Virginia Board of Education awards this
honor to schools in the state who exceed state and federal accountability
standards and achieve excellence goals established by the governor and the
board. We want to thank our staff and parents for supporting excellence
at Oak Hill and for the strong advocacy for differentiation for all
students. We could not be more proud of our students’ success!
We look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow night for Baskin Robbins Scoop Night! All proceeds will go towards the Oak Hill technology and staff development funds. This is a great evening to socialize with the Oak Hill community!
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further
support your child’s learning and experience at Oak Hill. My door is
always open!
Sincerely,
Holly DeVore, Principal

graders working in collaborative teams to create the perfect civilization.
During these first weeks of school, some of the activities
students are working on are reviewing the Engineering Design Process, exploring
JASON Science, discovering a new way to think about things using DeBono’s Hats,
working in collaborative teams to build a structure to help the chicken cross
the road, and thinking about a new culture. It’s great to share in the
excitement and creativity that students demonstrate each day!
Thanks to everyone who has begun to help replenish our
supply of recycled materials for the STEAM lab. We have a box in the
school lobby where you may add items to help build up our supply!
