 Meet New Staff Members
Rachel Gottheim Reading Specialist
I am so thrilled to be joining the Sleepy Hollow staff
and community as a Reading Resource teacher this year! I previously
worked in the Elementary Language Arts office developing the planning and
pacing guides and am so excited to support students and teachers with this
work. I have previously taught first and second grade, as well as Reading
Recovery at Bailey’s Primary.
I am originally from Albany, New York, but have lived in
Northern Virginia for 12 years. In my spare time I enjoy trying new
restaurants with my husband, taking Pilates barre classes, and spending time
with our two nieces!
I have enjoyed getting to know the students and teachers
and am looking forward to a wonderful year.
Jackie Johnson 2nd Grade Teacher
I am very happy to be teaching second grade at Sleepy Hollow! I have taught grades first through fourth and
more recently supported students and teachers as a Title I Math Resource
teacher. We’ve had an exciting three
weeks studying the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. The children were so excited the caterpillars
we found on Sleepy Hollow school grounds each formed a chrysalis and we
released all six of the butterflies this week!
Outside of school my interests include reading, playing
games, going to the movies, and traveling to visit friends and family members.
