The teachers, classrooms and parents need your help! Please don't miss this great opportunity to support your child's class and teacher!

Join us on Friday, September 28th at 8:45am in the Large Pod to learn everything you need to know to start the year off on the right foot!

Please email your child's teacher and sign up if you haven't already to be a room parent (Lead/Primary, Treasurer, Assistant, Photographer). Multiple room parents for each class are highly encouraged and appreciated. Every bit of help goes a long way! Do not schedule a meeting with your teacher until after the Orientation Meeting.

Day/Time: Friday from 3:45 – 5:00pm
Location: Cafeteria
Open to students in Grades 2 – 6
Instructor: David Mehler, founder of the U.S. Chess Center
Cost: $115 PTO Members/$123 Non-members

Have you ever wanted to learn how to play Chess?  Do you already play chess and need to practice?  Are you looking for some new opponents to challenge you?

Don’t know how to play chess, no problem!  No experience is necessary!  Beginners will learn the name of the pieces and how to move.  Chess Club will teach children strategies to learn to plan ahead, to value their material and to distinguish good ideas from bad ones. They learn to see things from more than one point of view.

Chess teaches responsibility, discipline, and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  Chess players learn how to make the most of their opportunities and how to turn a bad situation to their advantage.  They learn not to make excuses for their set-backs, and to win and lose graciously.

Gently Used and New Book Request

One of our new teachers, Mrs. Libuit, is in need of Learn to Read books for her classroom.  If you have any gently used or new books that are sitting on your shelves just waiting for a new home, please send them in directly to her. Thank you for your generosity!

Why I joined the PTO – a Mom’s perspective

As a mom who works outside the home, I join the PTO because it saves me time.  The PTO creates events and activities for me and my children.  This provides valuable insight into my children’s lives and the opportunity to get to know their friends without me having to make a phone call or send a text.  THANK YOU! SHES PTO

Your $10 PTO membership includes a printed directory and the ability to register for the Chess Club and Outside School Activities without paying a separate registration fee.

There are still limited opportunities to be a sponsor for the 2018-2019 school year.  Check out springhillpto.org/sponsors or email Stephanie Short springhillptofundraiser@gmail.com for more information.

Also, did you know that if your company provides matching funds for charitable or PAC donations, the PTO is a 501(c)(3)!  There are LOTS of ways to help support the PTO!
