We’ve had a great second week here at SEES! Our staff and students are establishing routines, learning their way around the new corridors and enjoying getting to know one another.
Congratulations to our School Based Technology Expert, Ms. Cindy Arendt, who has been named the new Assistant Principal at Hybla Valley Elementary School. Our loss is their gain – she will be sorely missed!
A few reminders:

Picking your child up early: When picking your child up early, a note MUST be sent to your child’s teacher that morning, noting the time you will be picking up. Allow time for parking and for your child to walk up from the classroom (or the gym, music room, etc). Early pick-ups should happen prior to 3:30pm as our parking lots are used for dismissal.

Celebrating special days: Please check with your child’s teacher prior to sending in treats for birthdays (or other special days), especially with regard to any food-related allergies in your child’s classroom. Items that can be served individually, such as cupcakes, are preferred. Party invitations can be distributed at school as long as every child in the class is invited.

Sharing food: Please remind children that sharing food at school is not permitted, as we have a number of students with food sensitivities and allergies.
Children’s Book Sale: Richard Byrd Library is having a book sale on Tuesday, September 25 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The sale features books for very young children up to middle-school aged, as well as resources for teachers and parents. All proceeds support the library’s children’s programming.
FROM OUR PTA
PTA meeting: Please join us for our first PTA meeting of the year next Thursday, September 13th at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. Come out to discover what plans the PTA has for the year as well as meet other parents and teachers.
PTA membership: Please join the SEES PTA for 2018-2019. Memberships can be purchased by sending in payment in a PTA membership envelope or online. Click on form & payment along the left side and then scroll all the way to the bottom. Memberships are $9/person.
Spirit wear: Paper order forms are in this week’s Friday folder. Online orders are also being accepted online. Click on ‘’form & payment’’ along the left side and then choose the desired item(s). We will continue to sell and distribute online orders with the items we have in stock. All paper and online orders need to be placed by Friday, October 5th, and will be distributed by the end of October.
Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering for SEES PTA, please contact Daphne Callender at daphnecallender@yahoo.com. We have opportunities for everyone!
STEM exCEL: After-school classes will begin in October for a fee. Fliers are in this week’s Friday folders. The flier is also posted online or you can find information here.
