Odyssey of the Mind

There is an informational meeting Thursday, September 13 for those interested in joining OHES' Odyssey of the Mind (OM). The meeting will take place in the Orange Hunt ES cafeteria from 7PM - 8PM.

We will discuss what's involved in being a part of an Odyssey of the Mind team, putting together teams and developing a timeline leading to the Tournament. See flyer for more details.

Guitar Club

Guitar Club gives students the opportunity to get their hands on a ‘real’ guitar and receive instruction from one of FineArtsMatter's experienced and engaging teachers. No previous experience is necessary. Grades 2nd and UP are welcome to join, but space will be limited. Fencing Club

Improve agility, balance, and tactical thinking at the Orange Hunt Fencing Club! Also known as “physical chess,” fencing is growing in popularity in our area and nationwide. Classes are taught by Olympic fencer Jun Liang-Smith, who has developed a program for elementary school aged children. Have fun while participating in a really cool sport! Tuesdays 3:40-4:30 p.m. in the Orange Hunt cafeteria. The first session starts on September 11. Click here for registration form.

Orange Hunt Computer and Coding Club

The program aims to align STEM education through beginner to advanced computer science and coding opportunities to build a Orange Hunt community Computer & Coding Club.  Fall session includes 'Introduction to CS and Coding' and 'Comic Book Illustrations'.  See flyer for details.  Limited seating, so register soon at stemexcel.org/orangehunt.

Global PLUS

Global Plus: Offering Spanish and German classes for students in K-6th grade. Classes meet once a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays depending on grade level and language. Please see flyer for details. 

The GLOBAL Plus Program is an approach to language learning that allows students to develop communicative skills, using interactive SMART board technology and other fun activities. The curriculum is designed so students taking the class in multiple years will learn new material. Classes are suitable for students beginning and students with experience speaking the language.

New this year is German for grades 4-6th : an introductory class to German grammar with practice reading & writing in German through a story book. For the German grades 4-6th class students should have 3 years of Global Plus or German Immersion.

Girls on the Run (GOTR)

Registration is open for the Girls on the Run program at OHES and the deadline is fast approaching! By using a curriculum that creatively integrates running with life lessons, Girls on the Run empowers girls to develop the confidence and character they need to become strong and healthy young adults. Chess Club

The Orange Hunt Chess Club is now enrolling for fall session.  The club is open to all students from 2nd through 6th grade. Fall Chess Club will start Friday, September 7th, in the school cafeteria through December 21st on Fridays from 3:30 PM to 4:45PM. See flyer for details or click here to register online.


RunFit Kidz

RunFit Kidz

Are you ready to run? Learn about nutrition and proper running technique? Then join the Orange Hunt RunFit Kidz fall team!

RunFit Kidz is the only running program in the area taught by certified fitness professionals. Our non-competitive program is a wonderful place where kids are encouraged to strive for their own personal goals, be active with friends and build confidence. Our fall program includes the following:

Open to boys and girls in grades 2nd – 6th. (Have an interested 1st grader? Contact us prior to registering corky@runfitkidz.com)

Games, activities and drills to bring running concepts alive.

Registration is on a First Come First Serve basis – so register early!

8 weeks for 1hr 15min per session.

First session starts Wednesday, Sept. 26th.  After-school 3:35 – 4:50PM. 

5K Celebration Run is Saturday, Nov. 17th at The Workhouse in Lorton, VA.

$95 includes training with a nationally certified coach, entry into the chip timed 5K, milestone tokens, commemorative RFK t-shirt, finisher’s medal, and post-5K festivities.
