Dear
Parents,
The Mount Vernon High School Parent Teacher Student
Association (PTSA) welcomes you to a new school year. We also want to invite you to our first
meeting of the school year that is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at
7:00PM in Bratten Hall (G-100), Door 1 Entrance.
We
are excited to announce that our school has been named a National
PTA School of Excellence! This is a recognition program that supports
and celebrates partnerships between schools and families that work to enrich
the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. Becoming a National PTA School of
Excellence began with the joint commitment of PTA and our phenomenal
administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate
effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and
collaborate with the community. As a National PTA School of Excellence,
Mount Vernon High School made significant progress to welcome and empower
families to support student success and school improvements.
We invite all of you to become
part of the MVHS PTSA. Parents,
students, teachers, administrators, staff and community members are all welcome
to enroll. Joining the
PTSA is a great way to support our school and our children. Money raised from PTSA memberships and other
fundraising events goes directly to programs benefiting our school – awards to
deserving students, teacher and staff appreciation events, senior graduation
events and scholarships, among others. Other reasons to be part of the PTSA
include:
- Find out directly from the Principal and staff what is happening at our
school.
- Interact more closely with students, administrators, faculty and staff.
- Share your skills and talents with others for the benefit of our
children and school.
- Meet other families to work, volunteer and celebrate together.
- WE NEED YOU!
Our meetings are usually on the second
Tuesday of the month and start promptly at 7:00PM at Bratten Hall (G-100), Door
1 Entrance. We try to keep parents
informed and offer programs to educate our school community on important topics. A sample of last year’s topics include community
safety, funding strategies for paying for college, opportunities at the
school’s Career Center and the International Baccalaureate program, and a tour
of the school. Upcoming meeting dates
are September 11, October 9, and November 13.
In December we will host our Annual Holiday Market on December 1st. We hope that you can join us, and we look forward to meeting you all at some of
our meetings and events. Go Majors!
