 Dear Franklin Families,
Thank you for a great first week of school. The students and
teachers are in their classes and routines and expectations are being established!
It is a wonderful sight to see everyone back and it already feels like we have
been in school for a while!
By now, every student should have received their individual
laptop computer and charger. Some have received cases and thank you to those
who bought cases. It is nice to see everyone ready for learning.
Our school is always open to you for information and
questions and our school web site is outstanding where you can find most of the
information that you need. The link is: https://franklinms.fcps.edu/
In addition, there is always Fairfax County Public Schools
Website that includes countywide information which can be accessed by the link
below or from Franklin’s website as well.

Have a terrific holiday weekend and we will see everyone
back here on Tuesday, September 4!
Your principal,
Sharon Eisenberg
Student Services Updates:
We have had a very successful first week at Franklin Middle
School! Students are learning their classroom locations as well as
getting lots of practice opening their lockers! We certainly hope
your children have shared their successes with you and have been enjoying
building new relationships with teachers and new friends of Franklin! We
have received some first week questions from students and parents that we
wanted to address.
FAQs:
Where can I purchase a PE Uniform?
You can go online to www.myschoolbucks.com
then click on School Store to purchase your child’s PE Uniform.
Please note: For online purchases at MySchoolBucks.com, please
note that meal accounts and school store items are separate transactions.
The finance office at Franklin is unable to process refunds or transfers from
meal accounts for the purchase of school store items. If you would like a
refund from your student’s meal account, please email your request to mealaccountrefund@fcps.edu.
Where can I access my child’s class information?
You can access their schedule on Parent Vue and specific
class information through Blackboard (Class Syllabus, Assignments, etc.)
How will I know what my child has for homework?
Your child was given a Student Planner on the first day of
school and should use this to write down assignments daily. The student
planner should be kept with your child at all times and is also used as a Hall
Pass when necessary.
If I have a question or concern, who do I contact?
If you have a general question about Franklin, school
schedule, transition information, or a concern about your child, please contact
their school counselor, which is listed on your child’s schedule
both at the top as well as the period 9 “Team Designator” teacher. If you
have a classroom or content area question, please reach out to your child’s
individual teacher. Our school counselor emails are: KAHudson1@fcps.edu JAElliot@fcps.edu TLBaileyCase@fcps.edu
My student lost their planner?
If your child has lost their planner, you can pick up a new one in the front office for $10.
General Feedback or other questions? Email me: TLStubblefie@fcps.edu
We look forward to seeing you at our Back To School Night on
September 20th at 6pm.
Franklin MS After School Program
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The FMS After School Program will begin on Monday, September
24th. We are very excited about our after-school program this year! We
have many stimulating and unique opportunities and hope your child will find
something that interests them. Please see below for some important information
in regards to the After-School Program.
Late Buses: Late buses begin on Monday
September 24th and will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and
dismiss around 4:45 PM. There are fewer buses and runs, the stop may be
different from the normal morning or afternoon stop.
Clubs/Activities: The first
list of activities will be posted on the FMS website and sent out through News
You Choose in mid-September. This list will constantly be updated
throughout the year with changes and additions. Please check back often to make
sure you are viewing the most recent version. In order to participate,
your child must turn in an After-School registration form.
Attendance: Attendance is taken
each day after school for all activities. If your child is absent from school,
they are not permitted to return to participate in the after-school program
that day.
Pick-Up: If you are picking your
child up, please utilize the Kiss and Ride area. You do not need to check
your child out through the main office. If you are picking them up prior
to the conclusion of their activity, please pre-arrange this with them so they
know to meet you in the Kiss and Ride area. We do encourage students to
stay through to the end of their activity, please avoid early pick up when
possible. If you choose to pick your child up instead of them taking a
late bus, please arrive promptly at the conclusion of their activity to prevent
unnecessary wait time by students or staff.
Miscellaneous:
- Be sure to discuss your child’s after-school plan with them
every day to avoid any confusion in the afternoon.
- Due to the number of students staying after each day, it’s
extremely difficult to deliver phone messages to students. Please communicate
with your child ahead of time to avoid any potential problems.
- All FCPS and FMS school rules apply during the after-school
program. Please remind your child to adhere to this.
Encourage your child to be an active part of the after-school
program. Research has shown that there are many benefits to participating
and here are just a few…
- Increased
academic performance and classroom participation
- Improved
homework completion rates
- Improved student
behavior
- Better peer
relations and emotional adjustment
- Improved
student-adult relationships
- Improved school
attendance
- Better attitude
towards school
- Increased
participation in healthy recreational activities
- Increased
school, family, and community partnerships
Have questions or need more information about the after-school
program?
Contact Mrs. Molle, After-School Program Specialist, Cemolle@fcps.edu.
