Back to School Night Information

We are excited about the new school year! On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, we will host our annual Back to School Night for our parents.  This evening is for parents to learn about your child(ren)'s academic year. It is not intended for children to attend.

Schedule for the evening:

  • Kindergarten – Third Grade:  5:00 p.m. – 6:10 p.m. (Detailed information below)
  • Art, P.E., Music, FLES, Advanced Academic, Band and Strings, Counselors: 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. in the Library
  • ESOL teachers: 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. in room 139
  • Special Education teachers:  Available with grade level as well as 6:15 – 7:00 in respective rooms
  • Librarian and Technology  – 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. in library
  • Fourth – Sixth Grade:  7:00 p.m. – 8:10 p.m.

Our PTA will be present and ask that you support and join their organization. Your membership supports our efforts to provide valuable programs and activities for KG students and staff throughout the school year. This is a very busy evening.  Please be mindful of where you park and respectful of our neighbors’ driveways.  Please walk or carpool if possible. Kindergarten Back to School Night

Kindergarten will begin at 5:00 p.m. for grades K-3.  Kindergarten parents should proceed to the homeroom that your child is assigned.  If you do not remember your child’s teacher, we will have assistance in the front lobby. 

Our kindergarten team is working together to plan a wonderful year for your child to grow academically, emotionally and socially.  Specialists, such as Art, P.E., Music etc. will be available in the library from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.  Also note that our special education teachers will be available in their room and English Language Learning teachers will be available in room 139 from 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. or by contacting directly.

We hope that you enjoy the evening.  Please note that we will dismiss no later than 6:10 p.m.  Please depart on a timely basis so that our upper grades have parking for BTSN with their teachers.  Parking will be limited. Please be mindful of our neighbors with your parking, there will be law enforcement present to ensure that we do not block our neighbors’ driveways. First Grade Back to School Night

First Grade Back to School Night will begin at 5:00 p.m.  Parents of children who are in Mr. Brock, Ms. Oakley or Ms. Sisson’s classes should proceed directly to your child’s homeroom.  Parents of students in the immersion program (Andrews, De Lucien, and Otterson) should proceed to the cafeteria.  The immersion teachers will present an overview of the year with details about the curriculum.  The parents will also have the opportunity to visit the classrooms and view your child’s work. We will end at 6:10 p.m. at the latest in order for your teacher to prepare for the next school day. If you do not remember your child’s teacher, we will have assistance in the front lobby. 

Our first grade team is working together to plan a wonderful year for your child to grow academically, emotionally and socially. Specialists, such as Art, P.E., and Music etc. will be available in the library from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.  Also note that our special education teachers will be available in their room and English Language Learning teachers will be available in room 139 from 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. or by contacting directly.

Second Grade Back to School Night

Second grade will begin at 5:00 p.m.  You should proceed to your child’s homeroom for the announcements and be introduced personally to your child’s teacher.  After an overview of your child’s day, you will have the opportunity to complete the ‘switch’ similar to your child if they participate in the immersion program with Mademoiselle Kennedy, Madame Boehm, or Ms. Valley.  For those parents of non-immersion students, you will remain with the homeroom teacher (Mrs. Viernes and Ms. Sarkar, Ms. Cronin, and Mr. Vance).

After meeting your child’s teacher(s), the whole second grade team would like to present an overview of how the team will work and plan together to the parents in the cafeteria.  All second grade parents will come together to end the evening and meet the team.   If you do not remember your child’s teacher, we will have assistance in the front lobby.  Our second grade team is working together to plan a wonderful year for your child to grow academically, emotionally and socially.  Specialists, such as Art, P.E., and Music etc. will be available in the library from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.  Also note that our special education teachers and English Language Learning teachers will be available in room 139 from 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. or by contacting directly.

Third Grade Back to School Night

Third Grade Back to School Night will begin at 5:00 p.m.  You should proceed to the gym for a grade level presentation.  It will begin with an overview of the grade level’s plans for the school year.  After this presentation, you will proceed to your child’s homeroom. In the homeroom teacher’s room, you will receive an overview of your child’s morning curriculum.  Then you will have the opportunity to complete the ‘teacher switch’ similar to your child.  Your homeroom teacher will communicate the plan and schedule that evening to you.  We will end no later than 6:10 p.m. in order to give your teachers time to prepare for the next school day and also provide parking for the parents of fourth through sixth graders. Please depart on a timely basis.

If you do not remember your child’s teacher upon arrival, we will have assistance in the front lobby.  Our third grade team is working together to plan a wonderful year for your child to grow academically, emotionally and socially.  Specialists, such as Art, P.E., and Music etc. will be available in the library from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.  Also note that our special education teacher will be available in her classroom and English Language Learning teachers will be available in room 139 from 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. or by contacting directly.

Fourth Grade Back to School Night

Fourth grade Back to School Night will begin at 7:00 p.m.  You should proceed to the cafeteria for the general announcements and listen to a presentation from the fourth grade team regarding curriculum and their plans for the year.  The team will dismiss the parents from the cafeteria and you will have an opportunity to be introduced personally to your child’s homeroom and first period teacher.  After an overview of your child’s day, you will have the opportunity to complete the ‘teacher switch’ similar to your child.  Your homeroom teacher will communicate the plan and schedule that evening to you.  If you do not remember your child’s teacher, we will have assistance in the front lobby.  Our fourth grade team is working together to plan a wonderful year for your child to grow academically, emotionally and socially. 

Specialists, such as Art, P.E., and Music etc. will be available in the library from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.  Also note that our special education teacher will be available in his room and English Language Learning teachers will be available in room 139 from 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. or by contacting directly.

Fifth Grade Back to School Night will begin at 7:00 p.m.  You should proceed to your child’s homeroom for the announcements and be introduced personally to your child’s homeroom teacher.  After an overview of your child’s day, you will have the opportunity to complete the ‘teacher switch’ similar to your child.  Your homeroom teacher will communicate the plan and schedule that evening to you.  After meeting your child’s teacher(s), the whole fifth grade team would like to present an overview of how the team will work and plan together to the parents in the cafeteria.  All fifth grade parents will come together to end the evening and meet the team.

If you do not remember your child’s teacher, we will have assistance in the front lobby.  Our fifth grade team is working together to plan a wonderful year for your child to grow academically, emotionally and socially. 

Specialists, such as Art, P.E., and Music etc. will be available in the library from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.  Also note that our special education teacher will be available in her room and English Language Learning teachers will be available in room 139 from 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. or by contacting directly.

Sixth Grade Back to School Night

Sixth Grade BTSN will begin at 7:00 p.m. for the sixth grade parents. You should proceed to the gym for the announcements and a presentation by the sixth grade team who will review the curriculum and general plans for your child’s school year.  You will have the opportunity to meet each teacher personally after the group presentation.  The teachers are available and welcome you to their room.  Their names will be posted outside of the trailers.  Note that this evening is planned for parents (children are requested to stay at home).

Our sixth grade team is working together to plan a wonderful year for your child to grow academically, emotionally and socially.  Specialists, such as Art, P.E., and Music etc. will be available in the library from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.  Also note that our special education teacher will be with the teachers and the English Language Learning teachers will be in room 139 from 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. or by contacting directly.
