Students #SOAR with grants to teachers from the Foundation.
As schools across
Fairfax County open this week, students will have the opportunity to engage in
innovative programs designed to prepare for the workforce of the future. New
programs in 28 Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will provide innovative
learning opportunities for students grades K-12 to gain life skills, engage in
STEM programs and explore careers.
The Foundation for
FCPS awarded $45,500 in teacher grants, ranging from $500 to
$2,500, for projects to benefit students from elementary grades through high school.
Teacher grants were distributed last week so that schools can implement the initiatives
during the 2018-19 school year.
“The mission of our
Foundation is to invest in educational excellence," said Elizabeth Murphy, executive
director of the Foundation. “This inaugural year for the teacher
grant program is a shining example of that mission in action.”
During September, the Foundation for FCPS will
highlight each of the 28 initiatives on Twitter. Follow us @FCPSFoundation to learn details of each #SOAR grant.
