Even time waiting in line can be productive! Ms. Campbell's third graders went on a class restroom break, but their time was not idle. They practiced number sense, and even followed nautical commands. Ms. Campbell's boat theme includes the use of commands like "All hands on deck!" The students started learning them the first day of school. As this video shows, they seem to be good sailors!
Open House Success
Our Open House and Pot Luck dinner on August 23rd was a huge success! We had a great turnout of students, families, and community members. Our PTA and Open House committee worked hard to create a fun, informative evening that gave us the opportunity to meet and interact with many of you. We had a variety of fun activities for everyone, and even prizes! Based on this event, we are looking forward to a fantastic and upbeat year at Cameron!

Welcome back, Students!
Cameron's teachers and staff had a spectacular first day of the 2018-19 school year! Our teachers have spent the first days of school getting to know their students, establishing classroom routines, and building classroom communities. Please keep an eye out for information and forms from the school that need to be signed and returned. This is the time of year when many parent notification letters are sent home, and sometimes get misplaced in student backpacks. Make sure to check the Wednesday Folder each week for new information.

Don't Be Alarmed
We are required to practice many different safety drills here at
school.
Fire Drill: every week until October and then once a month for the
rest of the year
Lock Down Drill: two in the first month of school, one
in January and one in the spring
Bus Safety Drills: two times a year, fall and spring
Tornado Drills: two times a year, fall and spring
Ms. Balangue's new 6th graders enjoyed a variety of first day actvities. This part of the year, it is crucial for teachers to build relationships and establish routines and expectations with students.
Back to School Night
On Wednesday, September 5 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., we will host our annual Back to School Night. This is an opportunity for families to meet your child's teachers and learn about what your our students will be learning this year. You will have the opportunity to find out about curriculum, class expectations, and how you can support your child's academic success. We look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome Back from the FCPS School Board!
Much like our teachers and students, the school board is enthusiastic for another great year at FCPS! Each board member has created a short video for the members of our community. The links to each video are below. We hope you will watch them and sense the hope and promise each of them has for the coming academic year.
