School
Hours and Transportation
We
appreciate your help ensuring Rocky Run is a safe and secure learning
environment for all students and staff.
- School begins August 28 at 7:30 AM
- Student
Arrival: No earlier than 7:05 AM. Doors will open at that
time. Please do not arrive prior to then as staff supervision is not
available.
- Classrooms
and trailers in Ramsville open for student arrival
at 7:20.
- Once
dismissed for the day, either at 2:15 or from the After School Program,
students may not return to school for any reason.
- Please
follow all traffic procedures to enter and exit the school parking lot and
Kiss and Ride. Thank you!
Transportation To and From School
Students should access their assigned bus or walking route
to get to and from school each day. If you choose to use Kiss and Ride,
please make note that the traffic through the bus loop becomes very heavy after
7:05 AM. DO NOT park in the staff parking lots to drop students off for
school.
Walkers and
Bike Riders
Walking paths
from surrounding neighborhoods are open! Students who live on
walking streets are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to Rocky Run MS.
Buses
All families will receive
bus information through email messages and phone calls
directly from the FCPS Transportation office. Parents and students can
also use MapNet via Blackboard FCPS 24-7 Learning to access bus stop
information and approximate times for pickup and drop off. Students will see
the link for transportation when they log in to their Blackboard FCPS 24-7
Learning accounts. Students are expected to ride their assigned bus and should
arrive at the bus stop approximately five to ten minutes before the indicated
arrival time of the bus.
Bus Delay Notification System
Parents may access the following link https://busdelay.fcps.edu/ or the
FCPS Mobile App to receive the delayed bus report. Morning route
information will be available through 12 p.m. The afternoon route
information will be updated from 1 p.m. through 5 p.m. It is normal to
expect a high volume of delays the first week of school. This system will be
active on August 28th. Both KIT and Bus Delay Notification systems will run
simultaneously until further notice.
Kiss and Ride
Kiss and Ride drop off can be accessed from two
locations. Parents will take a right turn off Poplar Tree Road or a right
turn off Stringfellow Road. Follow all traffic signs and be aware of the crossing
guard posted at Stringfellow Road and Poplar Tree Road. For the safety of
all students and drivers, students are only to be dropped on the curb starting
in front of the cafeteria. All parents must depart the Kiss and Ride by
taking a right onto Stringfellow Road. Students who arrive after 7:30 AM
due to Kiss and Ride delays are considered tardy for school and must report to
the office prior to the start of their first class of the day.
7th Grade Orientation - August 24, 8-11 AM (students only)
Orientation for all 7th graders is scheduled for Friday, August 24th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Bus schedules for the orientation are below. Students will board the bus at their neighborhood elementary school and return to that same location according to the times below. Please note the bus schedule for Orientation is an abbreviated schedule and will not be the same as the schedule for the school year. During orientation, students will briefly rotate through each class, meeting their teams and teachers. Students should bring their schedules with them to Orientation, but do not need any other school materials. Students who are not able to access their schedule via ParentVue will receive a copy of the schedule at orientation.

Rams Rally - August 24, 2-6 PM
During Rams Rally, we welcome rising 7th grade and returning 8th grade students to visit Rocky Run. Rams Rally is an open house format providing opportunities for students to visit the building before school opens, organize their lockers, walk their schedules and catch up with friends. This is not a structured orientation, and teachers will not be in their classrooms. Schedules will be available online in SIS StudentVue and ParentVue by August 23. Rams Rally will also include:
- Schedules available for pick up
- FCPSON computer pick up will be available
- PTA membership information and spirit wear
- Medication drop off at clinic
- PE uniform information and sizing. Uniform purchase through MySchoolBucks
- There will be an opportunity to put money on MySchoolbucks for lunch and PE uniforms
- Sign up for the After School activities
- Food available for purchase
- Renovation Updates with Dr. Goodloe from 4-4:30 PM, Theater
Please note that parking at Rocky Run MS is extremely limited. Walking to school and carpooling are strongly recommended when possible.
Below is a suggested schedule for Rams Rally attendance by feeder elementary school. Students must be accompanied by an adult to attend Rams Rally. We recognize that following this schedule may not be possible for everyone and students are welcome to attend as they are able. We encourage those who can adhere to this schedule to do so in order to limit crowds and to promote a positive experience for all.
