PTSO Info Session for Families NEW to FCPS/Woodson

Thursday, August 23rd
9:00-10:00a.m. in Cafeteria A

Woodson's PTSO Welcome Committee is hosting a new family orientation and tours on Thursday, August 23rd from 9:00-10:00a.m. in Cafeteria A.  This program is to help new families to the Fairfax County area become familiar with our community.  To learn more information, please contact PTSO President Melissa French at melissawtwptso@gmail.com.


New Student Orientation

Thursday, August 23rd
10:00-11:30a.m. in the Auditorium

Students who are new to Woodson (rising 9th graders and new-to-Woodson 10th-12th graders) are invited to a New Student Orientation.

This program will begin in the Auditorium for a general session.  Then students will be released for breakout sessions with their counselors.  New 10th-12th graders will have their own breakout session.  After, students will be encouraged to walk the building with their schedule, pick up supply lists, pick up their FREE Class of 2022 t-shirt, and visit the outdoor Cav Kick Off festivities by Entrance #7.

Transportation is provided from feeder Elementary Schools to the New Student Orientation.   

  • Canterbury Woods - Depart at 9:15a.m.
  • Wakefield Forest - Depart at 9:20a.m.
  • Little Run - Depart at 9:25a.m.
  • Mantua - Depart at 9:15a.m.
  • Olde Creek - Depart at 9:20a.m.
  • Fairfax Villa - Depart at 9:15a.m.
  • Oak View - Depart at 9:20a.m.

Students will be able to ride the bus back to their feeder Elementary Schools after enjoying some time at Cav Kick Off.  Buses will depart Woodson at approximately 12:30p.m.


Cavalier Community Kick Off

Thursday, August 23rd
11:30a.m.-1:00p.m.  Activities by Door 7 and the Main Gym

Join the whole Cavalier Community for food, games, music, and more to Kick Off the 2018-2019 school year.  Rain location is in the Main Gym.  

During this event, you will be able to:

  • Visit student clubs and activities sponsors on the Basketball Courts outside Door #7
  • Purchase food from Food Trucks selling empanadas, dumplings, and more
  • Join the PTSO, purchase Athletic Boosters passes and Woodson spirit wear in the Main Gym
  • Purchase and pick-up pre-ordered PE Uniforms in the Main Gym
  • Get MySchoolBucks and SIS ParentVue assistance in the Main Gym
  • Drop off medication(s) at the Clinic by Entrance #14

Student Schedules

Beginning Thursday, August 23rd, all students and parents will have access to class schedules in SIS StudentVUE and ParentVUE.  SIS (Student Information System) is the application to see attendance, class performance, and demographic data.

Paper class schedules will be distributed at Cav Kick Off on Thursday, August 23rd from 11:30a.m.-1:00p.m. 

Locker information will be included on these paper schedules. 

Students new to FCPS will not have access to StudentVUE until after Tuesday, August 28th.
