Principal Update
The Principal Panel will meet Tuesday August 14th. Making up
part of the panel will be 3 Rose Hill parents and 3 Rose Hill teachers.
The interview questions are based directly off feedback received by the Rose
Hill community. Thank you to all who submitted that feedback.
Carolyn Haydon (FCPS Human Resources) said that a ton of parent and staff
feedback was received. We hope to have a permanent principal in place
sometime within the next 6 to 12 weeks (or hopefully sooner).
In the meantime, Rose Hill does have an interim principal, Mr. James
Meier. Mr. Meier comes to Rose Hill with lots of experience – he recently
retired after 31 years of FCPS service and most recently served as Waynewood’s
principal for 11 years.

Please come take a look
around. We are still working very hard to keep it current and are adding
new features weekly. Most of our information will be open to the public –
anyone can see. However, there will be features coming soon (including a
school directory) that require account access. We invite you to join
today. You can sign up by selecting “log in”. Scroll down to where it
says “Not registered yet?” and select the blue link that says “sign up”.

Back to School Breakfast for Staff, August 20th
Our teachers and staff officially go back to school on August 20th,
although many have already been hard at wok at home or in the building. The
PTA is all about partnership between the school and parents, so let’s start
that partnership off on the right foot- give them a warm welcome with breakfast

Rocket Launch, August 23rd
Rose Hill’s Rocket Launch is our Back-to-School event where parents can update
their enrollment forms, drop off school supplies, and meet their teacher!
Plan to join us Thursday, August 23rd.

1:oo p.m.-2:00 p.m. – New Pre-K and K Rockets
·
2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.- All Rockets
Upon arrival,
make your way to the gym to drop off all necessary forms. Where are these
forms? Visit Rose Hill’s website at https://rosehilles.fcps.edu/node/2599 to
download and pre-fill them out today. After you meet your teacher, come stop by
the PTA table and join PTA! Members matter, and you want to be a
part from the start! Besides, we are going to give away 40 $10.00
gift certificates to members via raffle – but only to members who are signed up
by the end of Rocket Launch. (If you have already signed up for this
year, you will be included in the raffle as well)

Students first day of school is August 28th. After student
drop-off, come visit with other parents in the library. Complementary
donuts and coffee will be available. Come chat with new parents,
experienced parents, and representatives of Rose Hill’s principal team.

September 2018: Yankee Candle Fundraiser – help us raise money to purchase
classroom computers!

September 2018: Spirit Wear Sale! T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts,
and sweatshirts featuring a brand new Rose Hill design will be available for
purchase.

September 11, 2018 6:00 p.m.: First PTA meeting of the year. Food
will be available. Come here the PTA goals for the year (hint: community,
communication, technology, diversity!), and approve our budget. Following
budget approval, we will have a welcome speech from either the interim or new principal,
followed by a Q-and-A opportunity for you parents. This is your chance to
talk to the principal!

October 2018: Coat Drive
·
October 12th 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. FALL FIESTA! More
details to come on this, but I promise it will be fun!
Room Parents
An important goal for the PTA this year is to improve proactive communication
between the school and its community. One of the ways the PTA plans to
implement this is through room parents. Room Parents will help facilitate
important school information and volunteer opportunities. When you visit
classroom teachers at the Rocket Launch, be on the lookout to either sign up as
a Room Parent OR to receive important information from your child’s class room
parent.
