If you think things are quiet during the summer months at
Pine Spring, think again!
Our wonderful custodial team has been working hard since students left
school to deep-clean our building, so it is ready for
the first day of school on August 28th. If
you see Mr. Martinez or any of our other custodians, make sure to tell them
thank you for all their hard work!
PAC students have started their Summer program with us, and we have hosted
students from Timber Lane, as well. Ms. Grigsby has been here challenging
students’ thinking in the Young Scholars classes.

The Pine Spring Admin team invites you to join us on Friday,
July 27 between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm at the Thomas Jefferson Library located at
7415 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church. Mrs. Williams and Mr. Craig will be there looking for some great summer reading
books and may even be willing to enjoy some shared reading with some of our
students! Since we’ll be at the library,
this may be a great time for you and the family to check out more library books
so that you can keep reading through the summer. We hope that you will stop by and say hello!

Mr. Steve Craig is eager
to serve as your new assistant principal for this upcoming school year.
He began his educational career 23 years ago in Fairfax County as a third-grade
teacher. He continued to grow professionally as a School Based Technology Specialist,
Acting Coordinator, Assistant Administrator, and Administrator with the
Department of Instructional Services all within Fairfax County Public Schools.
Each of these learning adventures has afforded him insight, knowledge, and
collaborative experiences that he readily and excitedly brings to Pine Spring
Elementary. He believes in the importance of securing strong foundational
academic skills while teaching and modeling the value of character, effective
problem solving, and self-advocacy skills in our children. His wife,
Julie, and he are the proud parents to Ryan, a 15-year-old rising sophomore,
and Kate, our 13-year-old rising eighth grader. They enjoy visiting
the library, trying new recipes, and cheering each other on.
