Tuesday Tips
Parents here are a few tips that will hopefully make the transition from high school to college easier!
1. Finalizing Records **Correction**
Colleges and universities require final
transcripts from high school for students that are planning to enroll in the
fall. Your student completed the FCPS Senior Survey prior to graduation
where they indicated their final decision of a college or university and
provided information about any scholarships received. As such, FCPS will
automatically send the final transcript to the college or university indicated
on the Senior Survey. No further action is needed unless that final
decision has changed.
2. Financial Aid Paperwork Completion
Remind your student to follow up with their
future college’s financial aid office to ensure all paperwork is complete – you
don’t want to learn that any paperwork was ignored too late and miss out on any
financial aid opportunities.
As a reminder, most colleges and universities
require a completed FAFSA form
in order to create a financial aid package for students. If you are
planning to attend college in the fall of 2018 and have not yet completed your FAFSA,
it is not too late to file.
3. Planning College Orientation Trips
Plan for college
transportation to and from orientation. Coordinate with your students or any of
their friends who are attending the same school so that all of you are on the
same page and there are no surprises once the event nears!
