Dear Hughes Parents and Guardians:
Thank you to the Hughes community for a great school
year! We have had a wonderful year and are pleased to report
excellent results of our students. Report cards will be mailed home
Wednesday, June 20th.
Today our school day ends at 12:15 pm. We wish the
entire community a safe and joyful summer, and we look forward to the start of
the new school year on August 28th.

Assignments:

For
rising 7th and 8th grade students, All assignments are
posted on the LHMS website. Copies will also be available in the Main
Office over the summer. The following courses have summer
assignments: English 7, English 7 HN, English 7 AA, Math 7, Math
7HN, English 8, English 8 HN, English 8 AA, Math 8, Algebra/Algebra HN
and Geometry HN.

9/English 9 HN, Algebra/Algebra HN, Geometry/Geometry HN, and Algebra
II/Algebra II HN. South Lakes is offering an Algebra Refresher Camp, The Summer
Algebra refresher Camp will the held from August 6th - 9th from
9:00 am - 11:30 am. Courses are offered for those students entering Algebra 1,
Geometry, and Algebra 2 in the Fall. Registration is due in the SLHS Main
Office by July 25th.

Langston Hughes Middle School Creativity Site
Throughout the school year, LHMS students have generated a
wealth of creativity! From artwork, to short stories, to poems, to podcasts,
LHMS students have showcased their originality, expressed themselves and their
imaginations, and taken artistic risks. Our new Creativity Site, designed
by LHMS student, Alex Katzman, is home to a variety of dazzling student
creations. We welcome you to take an escape into the creative minds of

Please note that you must have an FCPS Google login or your
student’s FCPS Google login to be able to view the site. Students may
upload their own work at any time to the site by using the upload

2022

Register your rising
freshman for a summer introduction to South Lakes and everything Seahawks!
Participants will have the opportunity to speak with panels of current students
and administrators, tour the building, and learn strategies for success in academics
and extracurricular activities. This is an optional program in addition to our
regularly scheduled Freshman Orientation in August.
Three sessions of the
program are available and all sessions run for two half days from 9:00am-12:00pm.
Session 1: Monday, July
16th - Tuesday, July 17th
Session 2: Monday, July
30th - Tuesday, July 31st
Session 3 Wednesday,
August 1st - Thursday, August 2nd
The cost per student is
$15 ($5 for free/reduced lunch) and includes a t-shirt, snacks, and water.
Registration will open June 1st at 9:00am and close July 1st
at midnight. Please register quickly, as each session will be capped at 50
participants.

The South Lakes HS
Athletic Booster Club is sponsoring summer camps for boys and girls basketball,
field hockey, girls lacrosse, coed volleyball and football. Registration
