Mrs. Choate's Chat...
It's hard to believe this school year is coming to an end! Tomorrow, Friday, June 15th will
be our last day of school and because it is an early dismissal day, school will
end at 2:05 pm. Buses should depart Glen Forest between 2:20-2:30 pm, so please
plan accordingly to meet your children at their bus stop.
We have had a terrific school year because of the wonderful
support and partnership we have with our parent community! Thank you for your many hours of
volunteering, for attending our evening events and most especially, for sharing
your amazing children with us! We are so
fortunate to work in this vibrant and incredible community!
I wish our rising 6th graders all the best as they move onto
Glasgow Middle School. They have been a joy and we know they are going to
be extremely successful…because they are Glen Forest Eagles! On behalf of the entire staff, I wish you and
your family a great summer break and hope you have a wonderful and relaxing
time with your family and friends.
We look forward to seeing everyone back at our Open
House/Back-to-School Day on Monday, August 27th from 10 am – 12
noon. And don’t forget, the first day of
school is Tuesday, August 28th!

Farewell Glen Forest Friend!!!
After
being part of the Glen Forest family for 16 years, Mrs. Christie McCarty is
retiring this month. We appreciate her time, dedication, devotion and
love for our students and their success and wish her all the best! She
will be greatly missed! Happy Retirement, Mrs. McCarty!

Medications Pick-Up
If you have medications in the health room, please know they must be picked up by a parent or guardian by 2 pm on Friday. We are not allowed to send medications home with students.
All medications left in the health room after 2 pm on Friday will be destroyed per FCPS rules and regulations.

Summer Reading Challenge
Glen Forest students are encouraged to complete the GFES Summer Reading Challenge. Record books they complete over summer. Reading is so important to continue over the summer break. Completed challenge forms could earn students an ice cream party, name on the GFES news and their picture in next year's yearbook.

Registration Continues Over Summer
Our offices will be open over summer break. The hours will be 9 am to 3 pm. If you have family, friends or neighbors who have school-aged children, please encourage them to register their children at GFES before the first day of school.

Please consider joining the Glen Forest Elementary School PTA next school year. The PTA is a valuable part of GFES as it allows us to offer additional instructional and enhancement opportunities for all GFES students.
