Stacy

Please join us in congratulating Stacy Kirkpatrick, our Director of Student Services, as she continues her professional journey as the newly assigned Principal at Chesterbrook ES.

This is a fantastic and well-earned opportunity for Stacy.  As a Carson community, we are very aware of Stacy’s unwavering dedication to our students, staff, and overall success as a school.  Stacy has demonstrated her excellence and commitment over eight years, serving as an SBTS, assistant principal, and now as our Director of Student Services.

While we are saddened to lose Stacy here at Carson, we are excited to know that her energy, focus, and positivity will remain in the FCPS family.  We are so very proud of her and all that she has accomplished.  Best of luck, Stacy!

In this Issue:

1. Course Verification Letters for 2018-2019

2. Summer One Book

3. Health Room Medications

 1.  Course Verification Letters for 2018-2019:  All rising 7th and 8th grade students will be receiving a letter mailed home that indicates which classes are in SIS for the upcoming school year.  Support classes have also been added for students which have received teacher recommendations for courses. Please review these selections with your child.  If any changes are needed, complete the change request google form link: http://bit.ly/RCMSChange. Please note that letters are being sent out on a staggered schedule, so not all letters will reach families on the same day.  We appreciate your patience as you await the arrival of your child's letter.

2. Summer One Book: This year, the RCMS one book (a book read by our entire school community - staff and students alike) is I Will Always Write Back, by Caitlin Alifirenka, Liz Welch, and Martin Ganda.  Please see the RCMS website for your child's summer reading assignment.

3. Health Room Medications: The school year is quickly coming to an end; here are a few tips for the end of the school year.

Have any Medication in the Health Room/Clinic? Don’t forget to pick it up!  All medication left in the Health Room after students depart on the last day of school will be destroyed.  A parent must pick up any medication in the health room on or before June 15 by 12:15PMStudents are not allowed to take home medication on the last day of school.

Need your ‘Meds’ in Summer Camp/SchoolDid you know? … If your student will be enrolled in a 2017 FCPS summer program, you may continue to use their current Medication / Inhaler / Epi-Pen Authorization form(s) for summer programs. Call the Health Room before the end of the year if you want a copy of the student’s forms.

Medication Drop-Off Date in late August!  Medications and Authorization forms will be accepted in the Health Room, during the Parent Open House before the first day of school.  The exact date and time will be announced over the summer.

If you have specific health concerns for your child, please let our Public Health Nurse know as soon as possible.  They work all summer on School Health and they will be in touch with you before school begins.  Contact Barbara Thayer @ 703-712-2763 or  bmthayer@fcps.edu.
