Dear Stenwood Families and Stenwood Staff,
As we come to the close of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their contributions in making Stenwood such a great school. First, thanks to our students—they brighten our days with their smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm for learning. Parents, your partnership with us is so helpful and contributes greatly to student success. And staff, your dedication and devotion to our students is so appreciated.
We also appreciate all of the fun times together this year,—our whole-school student gatherings, Curriculum Night & Kindergarten Musical/Book Fair/Grace Arts Show, Help the Hive, Flip-Flop-Hop, and Field Day…just to name a sampling! We look forward to next year in anticipation of continued fun gatherings.
It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to a few staff members—we wish them well as they move to other opportunities and new adventures. A big congratulations to Kathy Schneider who is retiring after many devoted years of service to Stenwood Elementary as an instructional assistant. Congratulations to Sarah Thomas who was recently hired as Program Manager to oversee the educational program of Little Lights, a non-profit organization that works to serve underprivileged children. Also, join me in congratulating Jessica Heffley who is moving to the Seattle, Washington area where she will be teaching middle school. In addition, our staffing projections for this next year are not supporting the number of classes that we currently have in first through sixth grade, so we must say goodbye to Carleen Troup. Ms. Troup will be transferring to Camelot Elementary where she will be teaching second grade. Mrs. Schneider, Ms. Thomas, Ms. Heffley, and Ms. Troup will be missed!
Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing you in late August for the start of another great school year!

Stenwood Variety Show

Stenwood's Summer Reading Bingo
|
Summer will be here before we know it and we want all Stingers to keep reading. All Stenwood students are encouraged to participate in Stenwood’s Summer Reading Bingo, Stingers are Readers. Similar to a Bingo game, students are encouraged to spend the summer reading using the Stingers are Readers activity card as a guide. All students who successfully complete a row, column or the diagonal and return the raffle ticket will receive a Stingers are Readers prize and be entered into the Grade Level Prize Drawings in September. All students will receive the Stingers are Readers activity card with the final progress report. Keep the activity card handy to track reading all summer!

Dear Parent or Guardian,
Please don't forget to pick up all medication from our health room before the last day of school, June 15, Friday by 12:00pm. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. Please note that any medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. If you have questions, please contact Mary Ann Schall, school health aide at 703-208-7610. |
