Hello Frost Families,
We are down to our last seven days of school! Over the last few days I met with all of our students in their PE classes. It gave me a chance to thank them for being such wonderful students, while encouraging them to finish strong so that they enter their summer break on a positive note. They have worked hard this year, and they owe it to themselves to stay focused and positive right up until the last bus pulls out of our parking lot next Friday! It also gave me a chance to say goodbye, and assure our rising 8th graders that great teachers, administrators, and support staff are in place as a new principal transitions in to this role that I have been so blessed to hold over the last four years. Again, I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to work with your outstanding children. It has been an honor.
A few other important announcements:
- A special thank you to the parents who served on
the 8th Grade Celebration Committee for all their hard work in putting on the May 25th event. A big shout-out to Ms. Meredith Brimblecom who stepped up to lead the committee, and ensure that the celebration was a huge success! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers and
staff members who helped set-up, chaperone, and clean up after this spectacular evening. The kids had a
great time, and were fantastic as always. In fact, it was our highest turnout over these last four years as over 450 students showed up!!! It was a great way to celebrate
one last time as a middle school class. I was so proud of our students.
- Our last day of school is Friday, June 15. Students will be released two hours early.
- Our summer office hours will be 9:00am - 2:00pm. The Student Services Office will be closed between June 25 and July 6.
-
SOL Scores - Preliminary SOL reports: You will
receive in the mail a preliminary report of your child’s SOL scores with their
report card. The preliminary SOL report for parents will contain the results of
the spring 2018 writing test (grade 8 only) and non-writing test results
available as of June 8, 2018. The report will include the levels, names,
scaled scores, and proficiency levels of assessments taken this spring.
Virginia Grade Level Alternative (VGLA), Virginia Alternate Assessment Program
(VAAP), Virginia Secondary Evaluation Program (VSEP) and SOL tests taken at the
end of the June window may not be included in this report. While the
scores in this report rarely change, they are preliminary and subject to possible
modifications. This
report and your child’s report card will arrive after the school year has
ended. Teachers will share SOL scores prior to the
end of the school year with any students who wish to know their score
earlier.
Official SOL score reports: An official SOL
score report including all test results will be mailed to you at the end of the
summer (sometime in the month of August) after all data has been validated by VDOE.

Congratulations to Nelson Villalobos who was named the FCPS Outstanding School-Based Support Employee at last night's Honors event held at George Mason Center for the Arts. Nelson is beloved by students and staff here at Frost. His care, consideration, hard work, positive attitude, and attention to detail can not be overstated. They could not have chosen a better person for this prestigious award. Congrats Mr. Villalobos!!! |
