Tdap Notice for Parents of 5th Graders
Virginia Law requires that all students entering sixth grade receive a booster dose of the Tdap vaccine prior to the beginning of school. The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus (lockjaw), diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) and is usually given around the age of 11, although it can be given as early as seven years of age.
In order for your child to begin 6th grade you will need to submit a copy of your child’s immunization record showing the Tdap vaccine before the first day of school. Someone will be available in the office during the summer months to receive your child's updated immunization record. Thank you to those parents who have already submitted proof of Tdap to the school.
KGES Character Strengths:
The Positivity Project
One “character strength” is featured each week in the Positivity Project. We are revisiting certain character strengths we have studied this year which are especially important for the end of the year. Enjoy discussing this week's Character Strength with your children at home!
