Saying Goodbye......
We are sad to say goodbye to several
of our staff members who are not returning next year. We thank them for
their service and dedication to the students at Virginia Run and wish them
luck, as they move on to new adventures:
Shannon Brandt – Mrs. Brandt lives in
Arlington and has decided to move to a school that is closer to home. She will
be teaching 3rd grade at Nottingham Elementary School.
Jennifer Cox – Mrs. Cox is also going
to a school closer to home in Burke, Virginia. She will be teaching at Hunt Valley ES in special education.
Barb Defilippi – Due to our dwindling
budget, we will no longer be able to support our STEM program. Ms. Defilippi
will be teaching mathematics to middle school students at Thoreau MS in Vienna.
Brigid Donlevie – Ms. Donlevie has
many changes in her life this summer and next school year. She will be getting
married this summer and she is moving into an Instructional Coach position
at Fairhill ES where she will help teachers implement best practices.
Laura Goethel – Mrs. Goethel is our
Head Start teacher. She is moving to Poplar Tree ES to be part of their
program.
Barb Kohler – Mrs. Kohler has been at
Virginia Run for 19 years supporting our library program. Unfortunately, due to
staffing changes made by FCPS her position was eliminated at Virginia Run. She
will be helping the students in the library at London Towne ES.
Meg Lawhorne – Mrs. Lawhorne is moving
to Lees Corner ES where she will be teaching first grade.
Allison Pittillo – Ms. Pittillo (Mrs.
Willis) recently completed her studies at George Mson University. She is now
trained to teach in an English as a Second Language (ESOL) program. She will be
an ESOL teacher at Shrevewood ES next year.
Clinic Notice
If you have prescription or daily medications for your student
in the clinic, please remember to get them from the clinic before the last day of
school.
Any medication left will be discarded June 15th at
the 2:00pm dismissal.
Attention Rising 6th Grade Parents
If you have not already done so, please be sure to get your
child’s Tdap
immunization as soon as possible. Sixth graders cannot begin school without
documentation of having received it. Documentation can be dropped off in the
school office.
Yearbooks Have Arrived!
Pre-ordered yearbooks will be distributed to 6th graders
on Monday, June 11th for their signing party and to the rest of the grades K-5
on Wednesday, June 13th.

starting on Wednesday, June 13th for $20 cash or check to VRES PTA. The

Summer 2018 Reading Bingo
Join
us as we continue our love of reading over the summer! Use our VRES Book

We’re excited to see what you read!
