BOOKMOBILE
Summer vacation is here! During the past
several weeks teachers have been helping students to set goals and make plans
for summer reading. Research indicates that students who continue to read
during summer vacation are able to maintain, or even slightly increase, their ability
to process text.
Each summer Cub Run offers a voluntary reading
incentive for grades K-6 to help foster excitement for reading. This year grade
level teams have developed stamina reading goals, as well as tips for summer
reading. Paper copies of these forms are attached to this letter.
In order to provide students with a variety of
reading materials, the Cub Run Summer Book Mobile will visit four locations
throughout the community. We also encourage all students to enroll in the
Fairfax County Public Library Summer
Reading Program.
Completed Summer Reading forms may be turned in
to classroom teachers until August 31st. We appreciate any support
you can provide in order to make this program exciting for your children and to
help them understand the benefit of reading. For Questions please contact Mary

EOY Medication Reminder
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all
medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the
student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the
health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that
medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be
sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a
high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the
school health room. Please call the clinic at 703-633-7510 if you have
any questions or concerns.
