 These 4th graders were jubilant upon completion of their two day social studies boot camp. They were well prepared for the 4th grade social studies SOL!
HES Field Day Volunteers needed
Herndon ES field day will be held on June 11th for grades K-6. We are in need of volunteers to run the
outdoor field day game stations. All equipment and instructions will be
provided. The students have been taught each game. When signing up to
volunteer, please sign up under the correct grade level and time. Volunteers
need to arrive 15 minutes before the session starts and come to the gym for
your station assignment. Please only sign up if you can commit to running the
station for the entire session. (Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, and Uncle are welcome if they are at least 18 years old).

7th Annual CHALK4PEACE
Our 7th annual CHALK4PEACE event will be Friday,
June 8, 2018. CHALK4PEACE is an event that coincides
with the global CHALK4PEACE organization. CHALK4PEACE celebrates creativity in
children and a peaceful community. This event stretches across the globe. Many
children around
the world join
every year creating chalk art about what peace means to them. It is meant to be
a positive event to promote creativity and community. We
are excited to wrap up the 2017-18 school year by coloring our community the
color of PEACE!

PTA Sponsored Summer Art&PE Camp
Registration Now Open!
Dates: June 19-22, 2018
Times: 8:30am–1:30pm (5 hours per day)
Cost: $100 per participant
This 4 day long camp will offer a variety of
different games and art activities for students in all grades. This camp is
open to all Herndon ES students in grades K- 6. Applications will only be
accepted on a first come, first served basis for the first 50
students. Each camper should wear proper P.E. clothing each day, which
includes tennis shoes. Campers may also bring water bottles, and a lunch and
snack with them.

First grade experts share how easy it is to BEE a 1st grader with
Ms. Glorioso’s kindergarten class on Friday morning. The girls were a great
panel of knowledge for each kindergarten class this week! They
participated as part of Ms. Bryant’s kindergarten transition lesson!

As a reminder, the last day of the 2017-18 school
year is June 15 and
students will be dismissed early. Check with your child's
school for its individual dismissal time.

With the school year winding down and many
families making plans for summer camps, vacations, and other activities, be
sure to note that the first day of school for the 2018-19 school year will be Tuesday,
