Virginia Law requires that all students
entering sixth grade receive a booster dose of the Tdap vaccine prior to the beginning of school. The Tdap vaccine
protects against tetanus (lockjaw), diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough)
and is usually given around the age of eleven.
In
order for your child to begin 6th grade you will need to submit a
medical record showing that the Tdap booster was given prior to the first day of
school.
The
Tdap booster is available from your child’s healthcare provider or The Fairfax
County Health Department.
Please
see the link below for more information about The Health Department clinic
locations and hours: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/hd/hdclinicsite.htm, or by calling
703-246-2411.
You may submit the documentation by email mtadros@fcps.edu or to Mira Tadros 703-715-3801.
The promotion ceremony celebrating our 6th grade students will take place on the last day of school- please join us. The ceremony will start at 9:45 am and the doors will open for seating at 9:20 am.
