Important Year-End Reminders
As the 2017-2018 school
year draws to a close, here’s some information to help you wrap up this year
and transition to next year.
Students will be
dismissed at 1:20 p.m. on Friday, June 15, the last day of school. If your child
will not be here for the last day of school, your child’s progress report will
be available for pick-up in the front office over the summer. If you want
your child’s progress report mailed home, please give his or her teacher a
stamped, self-addressed envelope.
Requests for student
academic records and student medical records may be directed to
Chris Redding in the front office. There is approximately a 5 day
turn-around time, so please plan accordingly. Also, Fairfax County
requires us to charge for copying as follows: first 6 pages (one side):
$5.00, and 20 cents for each page (one side) thereafter. Please note that
records cannot be sent home with a student; parents/guardians will receive a
call when the requested items are available for pick up. All requests for
student academic and medical records must be put in writing. Forms to
request records are available in the front office.
Any money left on your
child’s lunch account will remain in the account for the next school year. If
your child will transfer to another Fairfax County school, the
lunch account will be sent to the new school. If you will be leaving
FCPS entirely, and have money remaining on the account, please call Yan Cheung,
Cafeteria Manager, at 703-288-8421.
Student library books are due back to the
library by Friday, June 1. Bills for replacement costs will be sent to
all students with outstanding library books. You will receive frequent
reminders of your child’s overdue books. All books will be overdue on
June 4, 2018. If you believe your child has returned the book, we are
happy to check the shelves. Lost materials should be reimbursed.
Please send in exact payment in the form of cash, checks made payable to
Churchill Road School or pay via “My School Bucks”. Questions should be
directed to Mrs. Warren at sewarren@fpcs.edu.
Thank you for your help!
Medication Pick-up: The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all
medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the
student dismissal time on the last day of school (June 15 at 1:20 pm).
Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is
school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.
Medication cannot be sent home with your child. If you require
Authorization Forms for the 2018-2019 school year, they may be downloaded from
the FCPS website at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services.
Need a summer tutor? Please contact
Jamie Meyers, CRS Guidance Counselor, at jlmeyers@fcps.edu, for additional information.
Summer Office Hours start Monday, June 18.
The office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Other
hours by appointment only. The office will be closed Wednesday, July 4th, in
honor of Independence Day.
Congratulations CRS Teacher Graduates!
Churchill Road sixth graders are not the only ones to "graduate" this year. Congratulations to CRS’s recent teacher graduates. These
teachers earned their Masters Degrees and graduated from George Mason
University this weekend.
- Dana DiCamillo (3rd grade): Teaching Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and Exceptional Learners

- Nick Kilpatrick (4th grade): Learning Technology
Wellness: Staying Sun Safe
Mr. Haden's sixth graders come prepared for hot weather -- bringing their water bottles with them to class each day.
Memorial Day, May 28, marks the unofficial beginning to summer and the opportunity to spend more time outside doing the things you love. While swimming, biking, hiking, running, playing tennis, golf, tag, or any outdoor activity, it is important to take care of your skin. Remember to wear a hat to protect your face and sunglasses to shade your sensitive eye skin and eyes. Cover up as much skin as you can. Some clothes even offer a UV protection rating. Do some research on sunscreens to understand the different types and to learn which brand can offer the best protection to you and your family. If possible limit your sun exposure during peak hours, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Also, remember to drink plenty of water. More time outside in higher temperatures can dehydrate the skin and lead to possible headaches and dizziness; water will hydrate your skin and flush out any toxins. Examine skin at least once a month to check for signs of sun damage, being especially attentive to moles that have changed shape or size, hurt, or itch. Protecting your family’s skin is an important part of enjoying summer time fun.
1st Graders' ABC Countdown Continues
First graders continued their ABC countdown to the last day of school. Last Friday was "G" for Games Day. As of Friday, only 19 days to go....

As
outlined by FCPS Regulation 1367.2, school principals shall offer options to
